As hard as it is for me to believe, in 10 days our Miracle Princess is going to turn 1 year old! What is simply incredible is that even after going thru 5 rounds of A/C in the womb with her Mommy, she was born with a full head of hair..weighed 4lbs 13 ounces, and other than one ear ifection hasn't been sick a day in her life! What a crazy, wild journey the last 18 months have been, and I just wanted to thank all of you who were here to help my beautiful bride & I thru that very emotional and trying time...we absolutely could not have made it thru it without you all!
thanks for posting!!! we are all delighted your Miracle Princess is doing so well..
wishing you and your beautiful family a happy, healthy New Year...
Dear Sethsnana,
with apologies, I don’t remember seeing your reply on your BRCA results until just now...My thought would be to check with a Certified Genetic Counselor to see if they have any thoughts other than what Myriad had to say and also get input from a Breast Medical Oncologist who is savvy in TNBC and BRCA.
again, sorry I did not reply sooner...
best of luck to you,
Steve

Hi Scott,
I've been wondering about you guys lately. Thank you so much for updating us on your family's progress. It sure sounds as though "little princess" is doing well. (Praise God). I assume your wife is well also? I hope all the children are doin well. You and your family really went through a rough time, but with such strength and honesty you seldom see. Good luck.
God Bless,
Lillie

Taige is doing wonderful, as she's starting to develop her personality its becoming very clear that she inherited her Mommy's stubborness :)! The other kiddos are doing great too...I'm pretty sure that our 2 year old "Boo" will be wearing an ankle monitoring device at some point in his future (He is hell on wheels), my beautiful bride is doing very well...she did 30 chemos, 33 rads, and has had 13 total surgeries, but her strength is almost all back--her reconstruction is finally finished--and her hair is about 5 inches long now.
I know this is an old
thread, but since it helped my wife and me a lot, I would like to share our
story with you...
I'm 32, and my wife is 29.5
years old. She got pregnant (with twins) in March. It was her first pregnancy,
medically assisted (Clomifene).
In the mid July she found
out she has some "suspicious cells" in her right breast. Immediate
surgery was advised by her doctors and was performed on July 24th. PHD was
quite bad (TNBC, T2NxMx, Ki-67 90% hist&nucl grad III). This was the time I
googled around for TNBC and saw this forum and this thread...
On August 6th she had masectomy(with skin and nipple sparing). The PHD results
were better (lymph nodes 0/16, no traces of cancer in tested skin & nipple
tissue), with optimistic prognosis from doctors. Nevertheless, her oncologist suggested to start chemo as soon as possible, but
later decided to wait 3 weeks, until beginning of the 3rd trimester. The original
plan was: 6 total chemos(AC - every three weeks) in order: 3 chemos, then birth, then 3 more chemos.
The first chemotherapy was
at September 14th, second one last Friday (Oct. 5th). In the meantime, she went to her regular gyno exam, and was kept in hospital,
because she was "opened" too much. There she received that second chemo.
This morning (30weeks+6days of pregnancy) she got contractions that doctors
managed to stop, but later decided to send her to urgent C-section. So
now I'm a proud father of Jakov and Lovro (Croatian variants of Jacob and
Lawrence)
The boys are quite small (about 1,4kg each) but considering they are twins born
a little more than 2 months earlier, this was expected. They have quite a lot
of hair (their mom lost most of it in the last two weeks or so). Except low
weight, and a smaller number of white blood cells, there are no other traces of
chemo-related problems at the moment (the doctors said that it was quite safe to take chemo in 2nd or 3rd trimester). Nevertheless, a little
prayer, or crossed fingers are welcome…
My wife is feeling ok, looks a little bit exhausted, but is unbelievably strong and
brave, she went through all this trouble very courageously.
Although we "survived" many aggravating situations on our way, there
is still "many miles of the road" in front of us... first, the babies need to
fight their way in the incubators, then my wife needs to recover from C-section
and undergo another 4 chemos, and finally we have to hope for the best in the
future...
This forum helped us when
we were in a really rough moments, and I would like to thank you all very very much
for that.
Welcome to our TNBC family and thank you for sharing your story.
I would like to offer you some words of encouragement. It seems, often, that the babies manage very well even though they have received chemo while their mother was pregnant.
It sounds like your wife is a fighter and I would like to tell her how much I admire her attitude and resolve.
Congratulations to the four of you!!!!!
I am a volunteer patient advocate and have helped several women with PABC (Pregnancy Associated Breast Cancer). PABC is breast cancer that is first discovered while the woman is pregnant or within the first year after giving birth. Women often notice a lump while breast feeding. Sometimes it can be an enlarged milk duct and sometimes, unfortunately, it is cancer.
I am sending you a PM with my contact information and would be happy to talk to you if you would like. You didn't mention it but if your wife hasn't done it she should be tested for the BRCA mutation. We can discuss this if we talk...
again, welcome!!!!!
warmly,
Steve
I have a warm spot in my heart for Croatia as my son was on the U.S. junior national team in waterpolo and I accompanied the team to Sisak and I spent some time in Zagreb, a lovely city. My son and I watched the recent Olympics together and he remembered many of the excellent players from Croatia, that he played against and who won the gold in London. I also developed a nice relationship with Ratko Rudić when he was the U.S. National coach.
By the way, I am the father of twins, too....a little bit older than yours....they are 44 and my daughter was diagnosed with TNBC when she was 36. She is fine, now.

Thank you for sharing your story and congratulations on the birth of your twin sons. I hope your wife and sons continue to do well. Please keep us posted on their progress. If Scott sees your post I'm sure he'll give you an update on their daughter Taige, who's doing remarkably well and so beautiful.
We have another thread talking about PABC. If you haven't had a chance to read through it, here's the link:
Congratulation on the twins!!! Good luck and prayers to your wife, you, and the babies as she completes her chemo. My miracle twins just turned 19. Love the names you chose for them.
Boys are ok, still in intensive care of course, but doing well. Lovro has some smaller problems with lungs (had to wear an oxygen mask for a few days), but except that, he is fine. They gained some weight (now are around 1650g), and nurses started feeding them with bottle.
My wife went to her 3rd chemo on friday.... so far so good. steve, thanks for PM, I forwarded your address to her, she will send you an email.
I see this is an older discussion but there have been some recent updates. I would like to add my story and be a resource to anyone dealing with TNBC and pregnancy. I was diagnosed with TNBC at age 30, only a week after learning I was pregnant with my first child, in November 2010. I underwent an immediate mastectomy, followed by 7 rounds of chemo (4 A/C, 3 Taxol) before going into labor at 32 weeks. I delivered a beautiful, healthy baby girl named Serenity in April 2011. She is now a thriving toddler with no known side effects of chemo being administered to me while I was pregnant. I am now cancer-free and about a year and a half out of treatment. Things are getting better each day. I consider myself extremely blessed and love to share my story to educate others and spread hope. To learn more about our story, visit www.team-roxy.com or we can connect on Facebook at: www.facebook.com/TeamRoxy1. I am also active on Twitter at: www.twitter.com/teamr0xy. I'd love to be a resource or support for anyone going through a similar journey.
Twins are doing very well, they are more than 5 months old now, weighting over 6kg, and except few smaller problems related to their 2 months earlier birth, they are fine. Eating, sleeping and filling the diapers all the time...
My wife finished her chemo in January, made few tests (CA 15-3 before chemo was 36, after chemo 25.8, and few days ago it was 11), ultrasound etc... so far so good Oh yes, her hair is growing rapidly again, she has more hair than kids, and soon will have more than me
Thanks so much for the update. So happy the twins are 5 months old and your wife is doing well. Hope your life gets back to normal, or as normal as it can be with twins? Keep us posted.
