I am now 4 years from my surgery...I count it like that because I feel they removed the cancer then :) As you can see from my signature I was stage 3 with lumpnode involvment so I feel so soooooooooooo lucky to be here today to post this. I have been fine and have a mammogram and checkup coming up next week. The chemo did take a toll on my body...I am 57 and most days feel more like 67 with arthritis in both knees and have still not lost the 15 pounds I gained with the steriods they gave me during treatments but I am alive and was able to see my only child(daughter) get married last fall...I hope this gives some of you out there just starting so hope and to know that this is not a death sentence...you can make it thru and survive ...God Bless you all and thank God that I am here 4 years later.

Hello Becca,
Thank you so much for your post. Congratulation on 4 years.

Would you please post what chemo you were given. My SIL Faye will begin chemo tomorrow or Thursday. She is Stage III?, Grade 3 and had 11 positive lymph nodes. A PET scan, and MRI last week showed that there was no spread to other organs.

I would like to print a copy of your post to give to her. Yours is such a positive story that I feel it would help Faye to see it.

God Bless,
Lillie

I always hate posting my survivor story, especially since I am about to go in for my mammo and 3 month check up at the end of this month...I don't want to jinx it. ya know??

I am going in for my 21 month check up, post lumpectomy. Almost to my 2 year mark.....i m nervous..as usual, I don't think that part will ever go away...

Lillie,
It's great to hear that the PET scan revealed no spread to Faye's organs.  That is good news you all needed.  I continue to keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.  I do hope that the first round of chemo was not too difficult.  I am sure you have been such a source of information and support for your SIL and family.

Dear Jennifer, I know what you mean about not wanting to talk about your survivorship status. And the Scanxiety still happens to me to. But the day to day fear is getting less, being replaced by a sincere joy and appreciation of life! Good luck to you with your tests. May you always be NED :)
Hugs,
Terri

I just want to share that I have made it to the 2 year mark, having just had a mammogram, ultrasound, and breast MRI that all showed NED.  My oncologist says that even making it this far is a positive sign.  The biggest change for me since my diagnosis is that I have truly learned to "find the beauty in the every day" like Steve says.  Even when bad things happen, I try to remind myself that I am still here to experience them and that it might have been otherwise.  This site has helped me in many ways, and I pray for everyone here, especially those dealing with a recurrence.  Have a great weekend everyone!
