Awww, Dori, I was hoping you would be in group two so we would hear about the kind of food the University thought was helpful. For you, though, maybe it is better to be in group one with the more sustainable program. After all, the University is only doing the cooking for a short time.
Maybe the University would be willing to share their menus later so we can see what they consider healthy?

Suzanne, yeah I know.....I really didn't have a clear preference for either group. Logistically having to go get the food every day after work from the University and then additionally get over there for the mtngs with the personal trainer would have been a challenge [even for my flexible work schedule]-- but the lovely discipline would've been nice... on the other hand, my group will be getting detailed food program and exercise plans from which to choose -- and weekly consults/weigh ins (sounds like some of the commercial programs out there) -- so I will certainly share the food plans, etc and also try to get a summary of the Group B menus for food provided. Am anxious to start all this, now that nice weather has come to Minnesota and lighter clothing is in order...am hoping my ONC md sees the improvements with me in September... Dori

A lumpectomy may be considered a partial mastectomy because a portion
of the breast is actually removed. Unlike a mastectomy, however, this
is usually a rather small piece. For this reason, it is sometimes
called a "breast conservation" or "breast preservation" surgery. It is
indicated for both men and women to remove discrete lumps from the
breast tissue, whether benign or not. indianapolis surgical oncologist

Dani:
I greet you to the TNBC Forum with mixed emotions:
1. I am happy that you did find us because these ladies and gentlemen on this site have a wealth of information and strength to pass on!
2. I am sad you HAD to come find us -- that means you have been diagnosed a triple negative breast cancer patient.
Anyway -- ask away and share whatever thoughts or questions you have. There is a lot of support, encouragement, love, and answers here!

I had two benign tumors removed from each breast. A lot depends on your
pain level and attitude as to how you will react to the surgery. I also
had a radical lumpectomy for a cancerous tumor in 2000 and I am doing
great. If you have never had surgery, you will go to the hospital,
they'll check you in, have you put on a gown and the latest way is that
you sit in a lounge chair and they hook you up to monitors for your
blood pressure and such. They will give you a twilight drug to make you
calm and groogy. You should be able to have a relative or friend sit
with you during this time. When it's time they will wheel you in and
put you on the table with your arms outstretched and taped down. Then
they will inject your anethsia drug into your IV and when you are under
they will put a breathing tube down your throat. Someone is constantly
by your side who's only job is to ensure that you are breathing ok and
that your vitals are functioning. You won't even realize how much time
has passed since you were in the chair and when you wake up. You will
go to a recovery room and as soon as you wake up your friend or
relative will be there. It is scary but you will come through and when
it is over you will look back on it and even have some laughs. Just
lean on your friends and relative. You'll be all right. I'm a 7 year
survivor. lumpectomy
