Thanks bunches. Yes hoping it's all clear too. Right now I'm pretty calm and just want to get it over. I keep telling myself it is what it is. If it's clear I'll be relieved. If not, then we go with plan B.
Helen, praying your biopsy is B9 too!
Love you guys!

Hey Donna, just curious about your PET scan. Is that something that you requested? or did Dr. Borsen just schedule it. I just had a check up with her (I'm at the 3 year mark from diagnosis) I had an MRI done to better examine a scarring issue and everything was fine but I constantly worry about the unseen that may be growing elsewhere.

A question from me too. I had no ct, pet or MRI. Wasnt asked to by any docs I saw, including the one at Stanford. Any idea why I wouldnt have one? I have good insurance. Dont know if because less than cm and no nodes.

Sounds like it's going to be an action packed week, I've got my first CT in a year scheduled for tomorrow (Monday) and then of course will join you all in the waiting game.
Snugltz: I'm finding it hard to understand why there would be no scans for you, they are a major tool in helping determining treatment. So, if your tumor is less than 1 cm was that determined by an ultra sound? The rule of thumb we all live by here is when it doubt, take the stronger option with TN.

As you read posts here you will see the difference in how docs handle scans. Many do not scan unless something appears suspicious or you have symptoms lasting atleast 2 weeks.
Having a small tumor or no nodes involved shouldn't be the issue in my opinion.
My first tumor was 1cm w/1 node involved and the second on the other side was a bit smaller, no node.
Any time there have been concerns my doc does a scan. It seems other's do a scan on occasion, it's all up to you and the doc.

Oh correction, snugltz, I was discussing scans after treatment.
I did have a CT and bone scan when diagnosed both times to make sure there were no metastasis anywhere.
Mainy, clear results for you tomorrow!!

Mainy, I'll be thinking of you tomorrow and sending positive vibes for a clear scan! Alison, Yes, she wanted me to have a scan at my one year mark, which was this past summer. I was having lots of anxiety issues at that time and wanted to just enjoy the summer and vacations with my family. My df had also just been dx with stage 4 so I asked her to put it off until later in the year. She agreed but wanted a baseline. I was having difficulty going with a PET/CT since I had 2 CT scans last year. One was a CT of my chest the day before surgery because the chest x-ray showed a shadow, which turned out to be nothing. Then last November I had a CT of the abdomen because of some high liver enzymes. It turned out to be clear and we think it was just from the reconstruction surgery and my liver seems to be sensitive to the drugs from the surgery and it just took time to clear out of my body. So with my upcoming onc appointment I decided to schedule the scan. I decided to go with a PET only scan at MoBap. She said she wants a baseline scan and then another one 2 or 3 years out. Congratulations on your 3 year mark. Do you find that the worry is less with each year out? Donna

Hi, back home again after a long day. We left at 7, then the 3-1/2 hour drive, blood work and doc meeting. My sis was also there today and I was beyond stressed being with her whilst our doc went over her options. I guess I really didn't know how stressed I was until the nurse came in and took my blood pressure...198/153! A cool, calm & collected cucumber I ain't. After that it was off to the CT scan where it took 15 minutes to be able to get the needle in (I'm allergic to lydocaine so poking around is not exactly my favorite procedure) but then all went well.
So anyways, now I join you in the great waiting game. Ain't life grand...

Mainy,
I so hope everything went well with your scan. Did they say when you'd have your results?
How's Boom doing? You must have been stressed with your blood pressure so high. Sounds like you've had one exhausting day. Now my friend, it's time for a stiff drink!

Mainy:
Sounds like you had a harried day too! Hope your BP went down....
I will be waiting with you on Thursday so we can vent together....
I am praying for Clear for both of us!
Donna: I saw my onc today for what he thought was going to be an easy, quick f/u.....NOT..
He was in shock to think I had another lump...He was shocked that my friend passed so quickly as he was on call the night she was admitted....I asked for neoadjuvant chemo if I need chemo, he said "Helen, I don't know, there is nothing available.... I am going to recommend mastectomy to your surgeon." He ordered a bone scan due to pain in my ribs and back, so we shall see. He has rebooked me back in December, figuring that I would have the surgery then return after 6 weeks' time. Thursday at 1:30 pm my time biopsy....hopefully, B9!!! It is only 10 months since I finished treatments.....
Hugs, Helen in NS

Helen,
Is the lump around the same area as before? Does it feel like it's changed at all? Is your onc recommending mx even if the biopsy is B9? I bet you're a bundle of nerves right now. Did they ever find your BRCA test results?
We'll be with you on Thursday - in spirit at least. I think this next week will have lots of anxious people waiting on some test results.
Hugs,
Donna

I feel so bad for you Ladies who have to wait and see for your results . When I go to Mayo they schedule my MRI very early in the Am, or Cat scan or any other blood test then I meet with my Onc later in the afternoon to talk over the results face to face all in the same day. I can't imagine having to sit and wait for the results for days. Why can't all facilities follow this form of care?
