I'm new to this site, just found it last night --I was diagnosed in January 05 with Stage I tnbc, no lymph node involvement small 1.7 tumor -- had lumpectomy AC and radiation Recurrence in Jan 07 --similar tumor in exactly the same site - middle of the rad field, so double mastectomy and Taxol--now another recurrence Feb 09 with tumor in the shoulder area and spot on PT  scan on the lung which can't be biopsied because of location - now they say Stage 4--Surgery to remove shoulder tumor and now on Taxol/Avastin  combination -will redo PT scan end of July --hopefully I'll find a way to feel a bit connected to others with this dread disease.

Hello Lucy,

First of all I would like to say welcome.  I hope you find comfort and support here, the forum is filled with wonderful members who understand what it is like to deal with this disease.

As Denise pointed out there is a mets/recurrence section to the forum where you may feel more comfortable but we welcome your comments werever you choose to make them.

With time you will see the kindness that radiates from the hearts of the wonderful people who come here to talk about anything.  How we are doing in treatment, we have a picture of a new grandbaby, maybe a vent maybe a joke, all are welcome.

If there is anything we can do to help you just give us a yell.

We have several long time survivors who peak in now and then to remind us of their stories and how one can survive and move on with your life.

An old friend Jill just posted  in the mets forum, 12 years and she is beginning a new treatment.

Best wishes to you and just jump in when you are comfortable.

Lucy

Can you have a surgery to remove the spot on your lung? I have a 4mm spot too that they called a benign pulmonary nodule. I found this before my BC DX. There has been no change in its size over 8 months. But i was originally offered to have it removed through cardio thoracic surgery just to be sure it wasnt CA. Mine too was not in a location that could be biopsied and too small at 4mm. BUT if i see any change in it now in light of the BC DX i plan to ask them to surgically remove that spot via a lobectomy or VATS procedure. Hopefully you can do the same.
Lung spots can be removed why leave it there?
God Bless you!
Lori

Thanks Lori -- They say it is in the lining of the lung --plan to do a PT scan near the end of July to see if the Taxol/Avastin has had an effect on it.  I'm having to be off the Avastin portion for 6 weeks while they put a port in since none of my veins will cooperate anymore with the chemo.  For now, I wait.  The radiologist says it's not possible to get to it for biopsy.

I will keep you in my prayers. I just had a port put in. So far it hurts me i hope that yours is more successful and with less pain. Im just beginning this journey with chemo therapy for the first time June 17th, Avastin what is iy like? Im supposed to be a part of a clinical trial of Avastin. Just wandering if side effects are bad on it?
God Bless

Very limited side effects from Avastin -- my vision has actually improved just a bit  My port problem with the Avastin is that it delays or impedes healing so they recommend 28 days off of it before any surgery and then another 28 days before you go back on it.
