Linda,
It sounds like you have a good plan. Now try to breathe and relax a little bit (easier said than done).

Posting to let you all know that I saw the gynocologic oncologist today, and after going over all of my testing results and scans over the past 7 months, and a rigorous exam of his own, he does not feel that I have a problem. He ruled out hysterectomy and even an exploratory, as he doesn't feel either is necessary. My CA-125 was normal, as was my CEA. Since he cannot zero in on just why there is a small amount of fluid in my pelvis, not enough to be concerned about in his opinion, and because of my TN status, he has scheduled me for a CT next friday of the abdomen, rectal area and pelvis as he feels the CT is very definitive in what it shows. After that is done and the results are in, he will meet with me to go over it. He feels very optimistic about the situation, so I am going to hold onto that. Of course, we all know that scans can always surprise us, and I'm hoping that will not be the case here, but will be able to leave this all behind me once they are done and hopefully show nothing, as he suspects.
A very heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you for being there for me. Words cannot describe how much all of your posts have helped me.
Love,
Linda

Well, OK, so Monday is not the 8th, it is the 9th. You see all those question marks after my post. Anyhow, Linda is sounds as though the 73 year old doc is very optimistic and leaving no stone unturned. Here is hoping you have total peace of mind soon.
God Bless,
Lillie

Oh, Lillie, that's funny! And I want to be the first to wish you a very happy birthday with a year of all good things and good health. I'm pushing for 65 myself in February.
Can't say I'm not nervous about the CT next friday, but I do realize that all this goes with the territory - and appears it will for the rest of our lives. I just hate the anxiety that these tests bring on for each of us, and knowing I will have it on a Friday - I have no idea when I will be called to go over the results, so I'm sure I'll have some bumpy days ahead for sure until then. Just hate, hate, hate all this stuff we have to endure and suffer through. But - just have to hang in there and see what happens. Just hope they don't find anything else. I figure he's telling me he can't see any gyno problems, and even though he's not concerned about the amount of fluid in there, he still wants to make sure it's not coming from something else going on elsewhere. Either that or I am the worlds biggest pessimist!
Hope you all have a good weekend,
Linda

Linda,
I am so happy that your tests are good so far and I think your ct will be fine also your doctor has to cover all grounds and he is doing a great job. I have had many ct scans and I usually get my results in a day or two if your are having alot of anxiety waiting for thr report I would just call for the results. I know I hate going for all of these test to I have a very difficult time when it comes time for tests so I know how you feel. I will be praying for you and I have a good feeling everything will be fine.

Or is it Monday, Lillie?...LOL. Either way, I say start celebrating right this minute.. sort of a Lillie-Gras! And keep celebrating all month if ya want! You're still a young whipper-snapper in my book. Linda- We're the same age if you reverse the 2 numbers. What the heck! Age is overrated. Feeling GOOD is all that counts!

Hi Linda,
You posted on other forum on 1/9/12 7:55pm"
"............ As I've mentioned, I have my abdominal/pelvic CT scheduled for this Friday (the 13th!), and called today to find out when I will see him for the results of same. My appt is 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Ugh!
................"
Would you be planning to wait until Wed appt or are you thinking of asking for results sooner?
Don't know if it would be a possibility....or if it would be helpful......if any chance your
regular gyn MD could see you sooner and give you the results?
Just a thought.
Sometimes it easier and less stressful to leave things as currently planned.
Sometimes things can be adapted for a better plan.
You know what would be more helpful to you.
Of course, speaking with the gyn onc Friday or Monday would be best...........so maybe you could
also ask about that! I usually feel all they can say is no. (Again, it could be better to leave planned
Wed appt as is)
With positive, calming and hopeful thoughts for a good report,
Grateful for today...............Judy

Judy:
While I hate the the time elapsed between the scan and the actual appt. time with Onc- gyno, I think I am just going to leave it at that. This guy is a real big-wig, and since he ordered the scan and not my gyno, I don't want to put her in an uncomfortable position. I called the Scan Dept at the hospital and they explained that he probably wouldn't have the report until Saturday, or maybe even Sunday. His office explained to me that he then goes over the entire scan himself, despite what the report shows or tells, he will go over everything with a fine tooth comb. I guess that's why he is the Head of the Ovarian Cancer Research Center at Georgia Tech, professor at Emory, and is the founder and head of the Womens gynocological cancer center at Northside Hospital as well. Just don't want to step on any toes without yet knowing what direction I'm heading. Also, Monday down here in Ga is Martin Luther King day and is a recognized holiday by just about everyone. The doctor has surgeries on Tuesday, so Weds. is the earliest I can meet with him. Guess I'll just go with that. But I sure will explain to him how harrowing the wait is when a cancer patient must wait days sitting on the edge.
Thanks for the suggestions though,
Hugs,
Linda
