Hi Nancy,
Oh what a proud and happy day this must have been for so many different reasons.,and what a very special young lady. Now she needs to let it start growing again and get another celebration for the trip neg 5 year mark or better yet when there are meds found that will help to control this beast. It would not hurt my feelings and I am sure she would gladly get another hair cut if her hair only got the chance to grow an inch before she had to get another cut.So proud for all of you.Huggggggs Billie

Good morning proud grandma and grandpa, your grandaughter must be quite the young lady, gracious and unselfish to give her hair for someone who could use it.
Only under such circumstances could you even get a teenager to even talk about it let alone do it.
Kudos to her and please give her a hug and we all said thanks so much for sharing with someone who can use it and it will brighten her heart forever to know that she has done this.

Ladies,
I just had to let all of you know that Lori got her results from the BRCA testing .................................and she is BRCA negative!! Not even a vraiant!
She was crying when she called and my heart just skipped beats. Then she told me the good news. She was so worried that she was going to pass this on to her children, and she does not have to worry anymore.
I wanted this to be on the thread that I had started for her in July of 2007. This is my journal for her.
Oh she just called again as she is driving home from school and she is sobbing.....she is so happy. She said she is going to go home and run for a very long time.
She has been so quiet ever since the testing. She sounded just like she did when dx. That little tiny voice, where it is all you can do to understand her.
I am so happy my friends.....I cannot begin to tell you how heavy my heart has been for her. My tears will not stop now...write more later
Nancy

Nancy Bell, Ronda, Sadie and all,
Lori called a couple of hours ago, and I asked her if she ran. She said she ran and ran and ran.....and her feet never touched the ground
This has been a good day! Although her daughters were very concerned as to the results, her son was more concerned. He is 15 and a very conscientious young man. He always thinks ahead and thinks of the consequences of situations. He knew that Lori being postive for the BRCA mutation would mean that he too could develop cancer. He was very upset. He wants to be a doctor. They can breathe easier tonight.
Until Lori had this test, I never realized how traumatic it was, just to have the test. The lives of your children/siblings can change so dramtically. I do not mean to imply that I ever took it lightly when one of you gals told us that you were BRCA+. I knew how devastating it has been for many of you.
I wanted to tell you that Lori is going to write a book. She hopes to include all the women from the Blair County area, who have been dx with bc in this book. She will do kits/baskets for the new women dx and have them placed in her oncs office....if he will be certain to give them out.
She will have a brochure with chemo and rad tips, one of my angels, just many things which she knows from her experience will provide some comfort and support. Lori is extremely organized and any time that she has said she will accomplish something...she has. Graduated first in her nursing class and second in college.
I hope to help her accomplish this, as all of you have helped me so much since she was dx. I can still be "paying it forward" right here in our own community.
If she goes on any more Forest Gump runs...I'll let you know.
Love and hugs,
Nancy

Hi dear,
I know I "whew hoo-ed" you in private, but will say it here again.
And may I reiterate how very lucky Lori and your other daughters are, to have a mom who has not only been there for them, but has taken on a surrogate role for so many others who are going through this!
Through all the trials and tribulations, that kind of strength and love pulls us through. You are a wonder.
XOXO Donna

Donna my dear young friend,
I want you to know what a priviledge it is to have you and all the gals here on the site as friends. While I may never meet any of you in person, this past 15 months on this site has opened my eyes and my heart to a world of caring that that is surpassed by none.
There are women on this site who are 30 and 31 years old. I have a granddaughter who will be 30 in February, and how fortunate we are that she is in good health.
My heart just drops when I see that we have a new member.....and then I realize that because they found this site, they will now have the loving support and information they will need to help them through their treatments.
I was reading some of the first posts to me on this thread when I first joined, and remembered how loving and supportive each woman was......for me! They were the ones dx and yet they were helping me to understand what Lori would feel, when she was unable to verbalize her feelings. As I said, some day I will save this entire thread and Lori can read and hear the love from all of you.
Much love and many hugs,
Nancy

To all the incredible loving women and men on this site, and to the women from the foundation,
Last week Lori had an appointment with her rad onc. She has been having neck and back pain for a few months. She attributed the neck pain to the way she sits and reads to her students with a microphone on and twisted sideways in a chair holding a book. She bought a new pillow, which did nothing. She had, then what she believed to be bursitis in the shoulder on the mastectomy side. That went away. The neck and back pain lingered.
Her onc ordered a bone scan , and yesterday she had that at 3 pm. He read the scan immediately, and said he saw nothing in the spine, but areas in the neck "lit up". An MRI was ordered for Friday and she would not have the results until next Monday.
To say that we were worried would be a complete understatement. We were terrified. Lori has always said that if "it" came back that she would do nothing. So, today school was cancelled, Lori called the MRI facility, at 8 am, and asked if there were any cancellations....much snow and ice here, as everywhere. No there were none. She said to her husband...there will be one. 10 minutes later they called and told her to come in at 10 am.
She had the MRI and said that was the worst test that she has ever had in her life. No pain... nothing....just pure fear the entire time it was being done. She said that the look on the tech's face was a look of concern.
You see, she had this dream a few months ago. She was in a park and there was a lion and 2 cubs, and they were about to attack her...she got down on her knees and prayed to God, and the cubs had her around the neck....and she woke up. She had the same dream before she was dx with TNBC in June 2007.
After the MRI they went home, as they said it would be 45 minutes before they could read it. She said she only wanted a call...she was not staying there to get the results. She called around 1:20 and said...no word...but she was postive that she had it in the C2 and C3 of the neck, and if that was it, then she would be paralyzed, and she would not live that way...ever.
10 minutes later, she called screaming and crying saying...."it is degenerative arthritis....I am getting old...I am getting old!! Those are the sweetest words we will ever hear! Our daughter is getting old!
Donna said it so sweetly in an email to me...
"PS it's a strange and mysterious club that cheers and cries for joy over degenerative artritis. Here's to the Tau Nu chapter of Beta Chi sisterhood."
To all the women or men on this site who ever responded to me either for our daughter Lori or for me....from the bottom of my heart....I thank you....Lori thanks you. I feel such a closeness to all of you, and that is why I stay here.
I had emailed so many of you, and the emails came flooding back..with hope and tears for me and Lori. There is not another bc site around who could have ever provided so much comfort. There were candles lit, prayers said, postive thoughts sent her way, Lori was wrapped in a blanket of love.
When Lori called her sister Sherri in San Antonio and told her, Sherri said it had damned well better be negative as when I fast and pray I expect results! She is our spiritual one...trust me on this.
Now...I must tell every member on this site that last night I received a call from Hayley...yes our very own Hayley. She talked to me for a very long time and it did not surprise me that she called, it just touched me. I know they do this all the time.
It is just the fact that this is who they are...what they do...the concern and love that they have...not just for me and Lori...but for all of you. They read the posts, and they cry when you do, and they laugh when you do and they dance with joy when you have good news to share. The love that they had and still have for their dear friend Nancy Block-Zenna is now transferred to all of us here on the site. Their love for her is being paid forward millions of times to us.
Keep paying it forward ladies and gentlemen...it is a priviledge.
Love .........and my arms are around all of you as your arms have been around me and our Lori so many many times in the past 17 months.
Nancy

Dear Caryn, Denise and Terri,
Thank you so much. I was so overwhelmed by all the support that I and Lori received over these past few days, that I just wanted to let you all know what a priviledge it is to "know" you.
You are always in my thoughts...every day....all the time. It is Lori who was dx...but as her mother I have a sense of what all of you have gone through or are going through. I have seen the fear and the joy in Lori's eyes...those big brown beautiful eyes, and it is through her eyes that I see all of you.
Much love,
Nancy

Its true what everyone says Nancy. I lost my mom, and her name was Nancy, a few years back. Often I have felt your love and support and I know that my mom is looking down, holding me in her arms as you reach out to me.
I can only say how lucky your family is to have you. I am so thankful that the dream can now turn into a positive message for her. Instead of in 2007. Lots of Love to you, Heather
