Pam, Heather and Penny,
Yes I will let Lori know that you all will grow old with her. And...you are all the "Victors"....not the survivors...that is not good karma.
Heather....sweet words you have written to me, and I cannot imagine being your age, and not having your mother there to help you through this difficult time. My maternal grandmother died from OVC when my mom was 9.
I read your blog last night and I am so glad that you are getting better...day by day.
BUT........do not....I repeat do not....have a pedicure!!! You are so prone to infections....look at your fingernails....and then there was the acupuncture...cellulitis....your body is not healed sweetie. Don't make me come out there to Seattle and lift you right out of your shoes
There....I did my motherly deed for today.
hugs,
Nancy

Dears...krisa, Chrissie, tami and Cheryl,
Thank you soooo much for your kind words and the loving thoughts. Krisa, you are so right...I would trade places with Lori in a heartbeat. She was here last night, and I think we may have bruised her ribs due to the hugging Her big brown eyes were just sparkling!!
She said last night that she felt like Jimmy Stewart in that movie..."It's a Wonderful Life" when her onc gave her the fantastic news. Remember when he said I'm bleeding Clarence? And Clarence said something like...thats' because you are alive? I think that was the line. Lori said her husband went crazy. I know her dad and I were just hugging each other as hard as we could.
To grow old with arthritis is a wonderful thing!
Love,
Nancy

Oh, Nancy!! I am just sobbing as I read this. What happy news. Please tell Lori how thrilled we are that she has arthritis!!! What a fantastic irony, I never thought I would be cheering over degenerative neck pain .
God bless you for all you do to spread love and light amongst this sisterhood.

Nancy Jane,
My name also....as I told you
The irony of it also is, that Lori had every test there was to have when first dx. If the docs are not doing that for everyone, they should be, as then her rad onc had something to campare this bone scan and MRi to.
Actually, it was Lori's husband who scheduled all her tests the day she was dx. He is her cancer secretary. We were there when he did this...he has a way with people, and to get your wife in the following day and a few days after for every test known...is a feat. In fact, her surgeon in Pittsburgh questioned why the brain scan. Well, if they have nothing to which they can look to that was taken a year or two before...how will they determine that it is not the c?
Her neck was just fine in June 2007, and now...degenerative arthritis....such a good thing! They say they don't know the effects of chemo and rads? Well, one only has to ask anyone who has had these treatments as to the difference in their bodies. To feel as though you are 84 when you are 46....or even 32....or 6 years old....something is wrong. There has to be a world wide campaign to get these people healthy once again. It should be during the treatments. Oh....how I wish.
Thank you for your kind words...and I have told Lori how thrilled everyone is that she has arthritis! You all are the sisterhood as Donna has said.
Love,
Nancy

Hi Nancy, I just finished reading your post. It made me cry. It made me laugh. It gave me in site to what a wonderful relationship you and your daughter, Lori must have. You are very lucky to have each other, as I'm sure you all ready know that. I know most of what I have read in your letter, is behind you now, but it has just landed a spot in my heart. It is so encouraging to see the love you have for your daughter. My mother and I use to be very close until about 4 years when something in the family caused a division between and we did not speak again until my sister told her I had cancer. At that point, my mother did call (I think because she thought I might die). But for whatever reason, we are now talking again, but the close relationship we once had, I fear cannot be repaired. Love each other with all your heart and don't let anything come between you. I am so sorry to hear about everything your family has gone through with this cancer crap. Is your grandson, Lori's son? What a double wammie for your family. You are such a warm caring person. Thank you for all the support you have shared with of sisterhood of TNBC. Kitty

Dear Kitty,
Thank you so much for your kind words. We have 5 daughters, and they are all so precious to us. You never know as to the relationship between you and your mom. Love has a strange way of healing the hearts. Things have happened in our extended family also, and relationships have been damaged, repaired now... and..the love is always there. Every family has troubles, just not many actually tell of them.
Indeed it is "cancer crap". I have other words for it, but am not permitted to write them here
Our grandson Bryant is our youngest daughter's son, and she was only 20 when he was dx. If you read some of the first pages of my thread, it tells more. In fact, I really want to save the entire thread as a journal of Lori's "journey". When I read some of the replies, such as those from CalGal, it gives me an indepth perspective of what many women have experienced over these past almost 19 months.
We will love each other with all our hearts...and Kitty, you must do the same.
You are welcome, and I am now just "paying it forward", for all the help, compassion and love which I received from all of you on this site.
Many hugs,
Nancy
