Hi- I was wondering if any of you knew how long it takes for your white blood cell cound to go down and get back to normal after Neulasta.  I had my last chemo on 4/21 and my last Neulasta on 4/22 and I had to go to another doctor's appt the other day on 5/6 and my count was 21,000.  They were quite alarmed and told me I needed to tell my oncologist.

Hi Abcmom,

Some times mine would take almost two weeks. Just stubborn I guess. Hope this helps a little.

Take care,
Mary

I think 21000 is high, not low, if I'm not mistaken. But please double check that!

When that happened to me, my onc did a quick work-up to see if I had an infection. They couldn't find anything, so I was told the neulasta sent my white blood cell production into overdrive.

A month earlier, on a different chemo, I ended up hospitalized for a low WBC though. So it seems to vary quite a bit for no obvious reason.

I remember the last time my wbc was taken it was 3.8 (000), which was a little lower than the normal.  I think the normal range was somewhere around 4 - 10 (000s).
