Hi everyone,

When I started chemo (3 doses of A/C so far), my oncologist cautioned me against weight loss during chemo. I'm overweight to begin with...need to lose about 65 lbs. to be in the "normal" category. But without trying, I'm down 14 pounds since diagnosis in mid-April. I'm not trying to lose weight, but between eating healthier, trying to take a walk in the evenings, and a slightly reduced appetite, it is happening.

Is this dangerous? I'm thinking it's just a side benefit of eating healthier, but I don't know. I don't want to fill my body with junk or overeat just to avoid losing weight.
Dx April 7, 2016, routine mammogram. Stage IIa, grade 3, IDC, TNBC left breast. 0 lymph nodes. BRCA negative. 4 doses A/C done 6/6/16. 0/12 Taxol, 0/4 Carboplatin.

Hi Angie,
I think is natural to lose some weight during chemo because its hard to eat the way you were used to.  My sister lost about 12-15 lbs- She also changed her diet, no sugars, low cabs, no fats, small portions of red meat,no  processed foods- she had lots fresh vegi juices, and soups- this was the only food she could eat during chemo.  Try to eat nutritious food to nourish your body during this time. My sis had  frequent but small portions, this helped to keep her energy going.  Eat what tastes good for you.  Your immune system needs to be strong to take care of those bad cells.
Take care,
