If you had DCIS removed during your lumpectomy but did not get clear margins, what was the treatment plan?  Did you have surgery again?  Did you just get an extra boost of radiation?  How long ago was that?  What was the outcome?  Would you do it the same if you could go back to that decision?  Thanks so much for responding.Smile

It was unclear whether or not my margins were clear for my DCIS, and I was advised to have a mastectomy (even before knowing that I was BRCA+). My DCIS was just over 5cm. I ended up having a bilateral mastectomy last October, and then had radiation on top of that. I do not regret any of it. I don't know that radiation kills DCIS, does it? Chemo supposedly doesn't, but when I had my final pathology, there were no cancerous or precancerous cells.
