My mom has an abnormal mammogram 5 weeks ago, which was week was confirmed to be TNBC. Her tumor is a little less than 2cm and they don’t *think* is in her nodes. But surgery to confirm all of this isn’t scheduled until sept 11. All I keep reading is that this cancer grows very rapidly, and that catching it at 2cm is very helpful in successful treatment. So is it likely to grow significantly between now and her surgery? I am having a hard time thinking about anything else and am so worried and sad. Any insight/advice is much appreciated to help me understand what “aggressive” means....

hi,

My tumor was 1.9 cm at Dx and my surgery was scheduled 2 weeks later. My final report stating that the tumor was 2.1 cm.

I suggest you to find another doctors who can help you to schedule the surgery earlier with TNBC.

I hope you can help your mom to schedule an early surgery. Good luck to you and all.

My experience was similar to Sarah's.  My tumour grew 1mm in 10 days.  The doctors told me my cancer was "very aggresive" and they moved things along very quickly once the biopsy testing was completed.

So, I would echo her advice to get the surgery done as soon as possible.  Otherwise, the worry alone would be difficult to bear.

All the best...
