I finished up neoadjuvant chemo at the end of February. I am about to have an axillary dissection that will be followed by radiation. This is a question that I have forgotten to ask my doctors about because it is something that I am more curious about than worried: Has anyone else experienced a little achiness (or tenderness)in their axillary lymph nodes that started with chemo? I had cancer in my lymph nodes on my left side but the achiness is on both sides. A recent PET/CT showed that I had a complete response to the chemo and I've been examined and my nodes aren't swollen.

I too have had pain under my arm on the non-cancer side. Mine started about a week after the first biopsy. I've reported it to EVERY doctor I've had but always get the same reply: "Nothing shows up on any test." One even suggested I was having sympathy pains. Well, it'd have to be sympathy swelling too, I said. No one could feel any swollen node but my cancerous node on the left side wasn't palpable either. So...
I had a left mastectomy almost two weeks ago and will have (with rad onc's OK on timeline) the right one removed later this month with reconstruction. Since it causes me pain, I want it GONE! If anyone figures your problem out, let me know, wlll you? Congrats on your complete response to chemo. |

I have been experiencing some pain in the lymph nodes under my arm on the non-cancer side since before I was diagnosed with TNBC 2 years ago. Nothing ever shows up on tests but it is almost a constant aching. I can feel the lymph nodes but the doctor says that is normal.
I did have the sentinel node removed from the cancer side when I had my bi-lateral mastectomy. Thank goodness it was negative.
I would love to know what causes the achiness and find a solution for it.
