Hi-

I was diagnosed in October of 2010.  I am in a clinical study at Emory.  I take a chemo pill called Sorafenib.  My tumor was originally measured at 2.6.  The pill alone reduced it down to 1.9 and may be even smaller as I write this post. I am receiving  4 rounds of cisplatin.  Receiving 3rd round on 1/22/2011.  Will then be placed on taxol every 2 weeks while still taking Sorafenib.  This is phase II of the study for Early Stage TNBC.

Deciding whether to say goodbye to "the girls".  Leaning towards DIEP reconstruction but having a hard time finding surgeons who do it here in Atlanta that are In Network.  Meeting with an out of network plastic surgeon who was on Fox 5 Atlanta who used some body fat to do recontruction.  I am a "gold mine" for that!Told I definitely could do just a lumpmectomy but having TNBC makes me scared to keep them even though reoccurence can happen anywhere in the body. Just need to keep it as best I can when I am done with this.  Have lost some hair but not bald yet.  Will probably need to shave it soon.
Willing to answer any questions about the study.  Love Dr. Amelia Zelnak and her nurse Heather Pinkerton.  They are a great oncology team!

Just want to wish you the best of luck with your treatment.  I have not heard anything about Sorafenib, so will look forward to your future posts.  I hope your treatments will be gentle on you.  We are here for you and welcome you on board.

Happy new year, I wish you all the best.

Linda

Please keep us posted about the clinical trial.  We love to hear the results of any new treatment for TNBC.

Good luck on your search for a plastic surgeon.  When I had my surgery, my plastic surgeon was "out of network", but she accepted in-network benefits.  You might ask the plastic surgeons in your area if they'll do the same.
