Mary, Brenda has just died this morning. She was lying in her bed, and I was next to her, holding her hand while I was reading her a letter and the Facebook posts that you and others had sent. And then she just pretty much stopped breathing. I told her that I loved her, about all of the others that do, that she was a great partner and a wonderful best friend, that she had a great life and did many good things. I kissed her and stroked her hair. I continued to tell her as she gasped her last few dying breaths. It was just the way she said that she wanted to go. Her struggle is over; we'll all have to get by on what we've already learned from her now.

Please let her TNBC friends know that she is gone. Thanks,

Greg

Like the rest of you I am so saddened by this loss. Brenda was a very different spark of light in our little group.
♥Mary

The Little Ship

I stood watching as the little ship sailed out to sea
The setting sun tinted her white sails with a golden light and as she disappeared from sight a voice at my side whispered, "She is gone"

But the sea was a narrow one. On the farther shore a little band of friends had gathered to watch and wait in happy expectation. Suddenly they caught sight of the very tiny sail and, at the very moment when my companion had whispered "She is gone", a glad shout went up in joyous welcome. "Here she comes"!!

Oh my goodness, Mainy, your words...are so beautiful.

I did not get to know Brenda but from what I see here, I feel I would have been so grateful to have been her friend.

My deepest condolences to her family and many friends.

I just joined this forum. I am so sorry for your loss. I cried reading the posts about Brenda, especially the one from her husband, Greg. If I have a choice that's how I want to go...hearing the person I trust more than life itself telling me "I love you" and holding my hand. I'm so glad she spent the last part of her life at home with people who love her. Even though we don't know each other, this thing connects us right away, doesn't it, Greg? I send you and your family my love and hugs...
