Dear all,

I would like to share the following with you..

Last weekend my wife and I were babysitting Ethan at my daughter's home in Bethlehem PA. By the way, they are hoping to move to San Diego this June and were on the West Coast job hunting. We would move to San Diego, too, to help with Ethan, as they both have to work.

Anyhow I always sit next to Ethan while he is eating and I read to him. He loves the book Corduroy Bear which is about a little bear who has a lost button on his coverall. Anyhow, for some reason I pronounced the word button as boo-tone which is the way a friend of mine who is French pronounces it. And every time when I say boo-tone he cracks up..

So, we are in the living room and he points to the chair where I normally sit to read to him and I sit down and he happily runs over to the other side of the room and brings Corduroy Bear with him..

"Do you want Grandpa to read Corduroy Bear to you?"

He points to his chest which means that he wants to do it..

"Ethan will read to Grandpa?" and he points to his chest again in affirmation.

Ethan, then, reaches into my shirt pocket and pulls out my half-glasses that I put on the tip of my nose when I read to him and puts them on his nose...and of course the glasses are enormous on him and I am helping him hold the book and the glasses as he talks a ton of gibberish to me as he looks at the book and then at me and then he turns the page and more gibberish and then very clearly he says boo-tone and points to Corduroy Bear's missing button and then he cracks up, hysterically laughing and says boo-tone, again and again, with his wonderful, infectious laugh.

He was very clearly reading the story to me and I believe sharing his love for me and the enjoyment he has when we read to him and acknowledging my love for him by doing that. It was just so, so beautiful and I wanted to share the story with my lovely TNBC family. It was the beauty in my day and in thinking about it today it remains the beauty today, as well, so maybe if you are having a particularly rough day you can think back to another day that had some beauty in it?

with my love to all,

Steve

Oh I can almost see the little fellow, laughing at boo tone. I live in a part of the country which is half French and half English so have many French speaking friends. I can understand the hilarious humour he saw in it. How old is this little guy...Sounds charming...thanks for sharing, there is nothing like the joy of a little child to brighten our day and any day!...take care...Love, Annie

Dearest Steve,
Thank you for sharing your most precious moments with Ethan!  He certainly is a special little guy!
I can almost see him with your reading glasses on reading to you! It is so great that he has such a wonderful role model in you, grandpa....

Enjoy your visit with your beautiful daughter, SIL, & Ethan and I hope that they can get to move to San Diego.  I shall kee them in my prayers, as always.   My granddaughters are in Tennessee and we get to see each others every two years if we are lucky.  We chat on the phone and have great talks about everything, they are 12 & 7.  Both are sports minded and lead very busy lives.  I too ache over the fact that we are missing precious moments, but we find the connection in each chat we have and always tell each other we miss & love each other so very much and it is almost like we really hug each other.  Transportation of our love through the phone lines!

Take care and say hello to your wonderful wife, Ethan's grandma ma and be sure you have all your butt tones done up!  Love you, Helen your other sister on the East Coast. xo hugsHug

Dear Steve,
Such a precious gift so very adorable he remind.'s me of my nephew with grat similarity,so very cute my nephew was born on August 31st and I had my surgery on October 3rd of 07 and soon after the sugga began, but one thing I have to mention is after my diagnosis he truely kept me moving forward. I am his godmother and take that very serouslly even though he has me wrape around the finger, enjoy each and every moment of each day with your precious grandchild as I do mine with my nephew,I feel as if he came into my live at just the exact moment when I needed the inspiration to go on, they say things happen at certain times for a reason and I truely believe that. You are a God send to all of us you are truely unremarkable, like you send your message Find the Beauty in Each And Every Day,I am so trying to and I thinhkI am,but I have to say I know you do with your Grandson.
Thank You for every thing,
Special Hugs
Denise

Thanks so much, Steve, for sharing Ethan's boo-tone story!  I am not having a very good day today and your story made me smile.  Ethan is very handsome too in the  precious photo above.

Wishing you many, many more happy moments with Ethan,
Kaye   :)

Hi all,

I just posted a picture of Ethan but a friend of mine (young mommy's DH) who was helping me told me that on his computer the picture doesn't come up...rather a link that comes up and then you can click on the link and see the picture...

If anyone out there can tell me if they see the picture I would appreciate.

Update-Ethan is almost two years old and a dream come true just happened..our daughter and SIL (Ethan's parents) just moved to San Diego from Bethlehem PA so Master Ethan is in San Diego. My dear bride of 33 years and I are moving to San Diego in August. We will be able to spend a lot of time with them. Also, one of my other sons has moved to San Diego so a lot more time with him, as well. I am so happy about all of this.

This young man continues to fill my heart with joy. His Mother got a full-time job as a second grade school teacher and it looks like his dad has a job as well. So that is marvelous.

Please let me know if you can view the picture.

with my love to all,

Steve

I forgot to mention.. CONGRATS on moving to San Diego.  That's marvelous!!!

The boo-tone story is so darn cute!  Ethan and his corduroy bear book.. ha ha.  I can see it now.  Thanks for sharing the way you do.  It fills my heart with smiles.

My little troops are in Ohio for a week.  Our middle grand is playing in a softball tourney.  Brenlyn has turned out to be quite a pitcher! All of my grands have special talents.  But the most endearing part of their unique personalities.. and one they all share is their true loving hearts.   Their parents have done a brilliant job with those kids.  I've been blessed a bazillion times over.  And I KNOW you know exactly what I mean.
