Recently there has been a lot of publicity on ASCO’s new guidelines encouraging physicians to use palliative care service more frequently

I think this is a good video on the topic from Dr. Richard Miller at Johns Hopkins.

Among other things he explains the differences between palliative care i.e. supportive care services and palliative care i.e. hospice....Again, it is unfortunate that everything gets put under the same rook but I believe more and more patients and hopefully more and more oncologists understand the difference and are utilizing the services where appropriate.

warmly,

Steve

Bumping.

Good video overview to understand what palliative care IS and what it IS NOT.
Steve, thanks for finding this video and posting.
If one is having a lot of symptoms/side effects with one's treatment plan, in addition to
discussing with one's providers, one may consider asking one's provider for a palliative care
referral if current plan changes have not worked.

With caring and positive thoughts,
Grateful for today.............Judy

Thanks so  much for posting this, Steve.  It is very informative and it's so good to know that this care exists.

Gratefully,
Kaye
