Welcome xidoli, Welcome to our family... your question does not ring a bell with me...I would suggest posting on the FORCE website.. www.facingourrisk.org here is a study, out of Poland that talks of low BRCA1 expression. Happy New Year to you as well..I carry the BRCA1(187delAG)+ mutation, a classic Ashkenazi Founder’s mutation and it is nasty. Most women with the BRCA1+ mutation, when they have breast cancer have TNBC. The converse is not true. Most women with TNBC are not BRCA1+. I hope you have a good Certified Genetic Counselor in your life. Yes you are right. Only 48% of breast cancer TNBC has BRCA1 mutation.
I am wondering how many have the BRCA1 low expression. It seems these two genes give some bad effects on the prognosis of BCa.

Dear Xidoli, I think it is very important not to get caught up in statistics.....except when you find out, before you have breast cancer, that e.g. if you have the BRCA1 mutation you have an approx. 85% chance in your lifetime to get breast cancer. Then some women may choose to have risk-reducing surgeries and I am not recommending that anyone do anything. But when you do have TNBC and you also have the BRCA mutation, or not, you can read all sorts of figures and much of it is depressing but, at times, the chemo can be very effective and if the woman makes it through the first 3-5 years without metastasis she most likely will live longer than a woman with e.g. ER+ PR+/ HER2+ breast cancer. My daughter is BRCA1+, and had TNBC, at age 36, and had four months of chemo and surgeries...She is NED for 7+ years and I pray she will never deal with cancer again...No guarantees, of course, but I always encourage her to try to find the beauty in each day. She is eating well and exercising. Hopefully, she will defy the statistics. Hi Xilodi, Welcome to this family, but sorry you are dealing with a diagnosis of TNBC. I've never heard of the PIK3AC mutation. Can you tell us a little more about what this is? We all try to learn from each other and help others as we go along in this journey. Can you tell us a little more about your story, eg. tumor size, nodes, surgery, chemo, etc? Dear Donna I am sorry for reply your late, since I am traveling in different place within Europe these a few days. PI3KAC mutation has been detected about 30-40% in BCa patients. I found some TNBC pateints with Pi3KAC mutation has high incident with chemotherapy resistance and tumor recurrance. I want to know the reason. All the best, Xidoli |
