I always assumed it was calculated based on the last treatment date. But you just called me a 2 year Survivor based on my diagnosis date. WOWEEEEEEEEEE!! Thank you Judy for remembering, but 12:29 AM?--get some rest! It is my birthday today (wagging my tail), and today's goal is to be productive! With all my appointments, treatments, sick days, etc. lately, I have been very unproductive, particularly at work, and have been feeling very guilty about this. I'd also like to share my birthday wish, in short story made long format. I have learned that my paternal grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 38 in 1955. Hers is the only incidence of cancer that I am aware of (other than mine) in my family. Our family has little to no medical records for her, but from what I can gather, she was treated first with a mastectomy, then underwent several surgeries, including a second mastectomy and radiation at some point. She succumbed to cancer at age 52, 14 years later. I was 4 years old. I was the only grandchild she ever got to hold, but she did get to hold me, and from family stories I've been told she adored me. It would break her heart to learn that my breast cancer is likely due to the defective BRCA2 gene that I inherited from her. My wish is to have at least the 14 years she had. I won't get to hold any grandchildren, but I would at least get to see my own children grow up. They are Elise Anne, 10 and Shane Patrick, 9. I adore them so, and they have, to steal a phrase, completed me. Thank you, Judy! I have to tell you that I was laughing at myself when I logged on this morning and saw that it was my birthday - it really isn't!! I messed up when I did my birthday on my profile and put day=7, month=3.......should have been day=3 and month=7 (what a dummy!!!). Today, I threw caution to the winds, and DH and I went to IHOP for a pancake breakfast on the spur of the moment. I was very careful - choose the fresh fruit crepe with strawberry yoghurt and granola. But then, I asked for a big dollop of whipped cream. Yum! Thoroughly enjoyed just enjoying it. (Haven't done anything like this for ages - and always being "careful" about the food choices gets a bit old...) Hope everyone has a good day today, and an even better weekend. Some of you may find this funny too. I sent Allison an email wishing her a happy birthday. She replied thanks, but my birthday was in December. (Allison, you probably thought I was crazy! When I found this thread, I thought what a nice thread. What a great idea.....thank you Helen in NS (TNBC_in_NS) for starting it. Then I realized that some members "access the forum" often and post less frequently than others and that many may "access the forum" without posting. ..........and this is what I believe the forum is for.......to use the forum and it's info as is helpful for each one.......and how well we know that different things help each of us. Then I realized if one clicks on the name of the birthday person, the system shows last forum access date and time............so one sees who is still accessing the forum recently. Then if some one remembers to check the birthday info at the bottom of the forum home page...... one can wish a Happy BIrthday to those who had accessed the forum recently. All the members who use the forum in which ever way is best for them are valued and important members of the TNBC family. One of my concerns is that some one's birthday might unintentionally be missed. Hopefully, this does not happen or if it does, it is rare. When/if this happens, know it is unintentional. As there might be days, when no one checks the birthdays. This is likely to happen when there are several days in a row without birthdays. If the info showed that it had been quite awhile such the last post, I have included those members with the phrase "and everyone celebrating their birthdays today". For those who choose not to put their birthdates on the profile that's OK (of course), these people are included also with the "and everyone celebrating their birthdays today". As Donna mentioned, some people have/will be getting greetings on the incorrect date if they entered their birthdate on the profile in the usual way of month-day-year instead of in the order the profile asks for: day-month-year. Happy Birthday to everyone celebrating their birthdays today! Today is one of the days I am not sure how best to send wishes. Even though it looks like Nancy B last accessed the forum in 2010, would want to include her. It looks like Susan E1104 last accessed the site on 2/21/11. Thinking to include the phrase (and everyone celebrating their birthdays today) on days when there are members currently accessing and members who have not accessed the forum for awhile. Thinking of not posting a greeting on days when all members listed have not accessed the forum for a long time. (If anyone, has any thoughts on this, please share).
