This is a little bit off the subject, but I do not want to start another thread.
Can you please give advice on radiation treatment? What to expect? How tired I will be in comparison to chemo? Ideas on nutrition (same as with chemo)? Some cells will be damaged, so whole body clean up again? Skin problems? How long it takes to recover? Do they usually do a cast? Anybody decided against radiation? Hi Galina, I didn't have radiation but I know alot of women use Calendula oinment to help with burns. Also Chinese medicine is supposed to be pretty miraculous in helping women recover . I would think Vitamin D would be important for healthy cell repair. I've also heard collodial silver can be helpful with burns in general. I did the mastectomy (I was node negative) to avoid radiation around my heart, I felt Adriamycin was enough for one lifetime.

Read your massage about radiation. I had 6 weeks of this. I became extremely fatigue and as the weeks worn on, I cannot describe the fatigue that I experience. I did go to my Primary doc who's wife also had breast cancer. IHe sent me to a compound pharmancy for topical cream to help with the radiation burns that I experience. My burns were not as bad as some from what I had but they were moderate. The radiation oncologist I saw did nothing to help me thorough this period of time and I let him know that I was not happy. I did not have chemo as my cancer was stage Ib with no node involvement. Diagnosed 8/06
I guess everyone who has cancer thiks about it daily and when I read the death notice about some young person dying, it brings it to the forefront.

Thank you for your insight! I just have finished my 6th radiation treatment! I will get 25 doses in 5 weeks. So far I am amazed, how well I feel, but the fatigue starts to build! I try to go for a walk with my dog, if I do more than 15 min., well, I pay for it later in a day! BUT, so far it's NOTHING like chemo (When I was dragging my body from spot in the bed into a spot in front of TV, which I had only as a companion)!!! I love my radiation oncologist! He is a great guy, spent with me 45 min. discussing PRO/CON of radiation and if I should go for it! We will also have weekly meetings to discuss the radiation treatment!
They say it will take at least 2 weeks after radiation to get on one's feet again. (?) How fast did you recover? Galina, hang in there.
It has been 5 yrs since I've had rads so I do not remember how long it took after treatment to feel better but it seems like it wasn't a long time.
Radiation can be tiring so please listen to your body and rest when you need to.

Hello Galina2 Thanks for responding. I really can't remember how long it took me to feel Normal again. I lose a lot of weight during radiation and had terrible ingestion during this time. My primary did given me medication to helpe with the esophigal irritation that I had. Did you also have Chemo. My onc didn't feel that i needed chem at this tiem.
