I was diagnosed with cancer March 24th after having what was supposedly a benign 10"cyst in my breast removed.According to my surgeon the local tumor board has labeled me "an enigma".They apparently cannot figure out the margins of my tumor.I obtained a copy of my pathology report from the hospital and it appears that the tumor is triple negative.I had a masectomy on 04/15 and my lymph nodes were clear.( I guess that's a good sign).I don't see an oncologist until Thursday. It is driving me crazy-I have so many questions. My pathology reports( my masectomy flap failed and I had another surgery on the 29th to correct that and remove a tissue expander) have different stages. It probably wasn't a good idea for me to see them.Anyway all the other indicators are that this is the most aggressive it can be.If so why are they waiting so long.??? I haven't even had blood work done yet??!!??And I am so scared. But I am glad I found this website.

Hi,
I know what you mean about waiting so long to see doctors.  I was diagnosed in January, surgery in March.  I had a 2.5cm tumor in my right breast.  I elected for a lumpectomy in which the surgeon took very wide margins when removed (I told him if the path came back without completely clear margins I would have killed him!) and unfortunately 2 involved lymph nodes so full dissection was done too.  Developed an infection at the tumor site so chemo was delayed until April--I've had one chemo treatment so far and am scheduled for my next one Monday.  It's weird, waiting between treatments.  I don't have many side effects so far except for occasional nausea and the beginning of hair loss.  I felt like I was catching a cold but instead cold sores popped out on my mouth and lymph node swellings on my neck.  That made me feel like the tx is abandoning me and now I wonder if the chemo is helping or not.  This morning I am thinking more clearly and I think that it is but am very tired because sleep totally avoided me.  Walking this road is very scary and I wonder how people manage to lead lives after bc and not be totally freaked out with every discovery of a new bump or sore throat.  I hope I do better than last night.  Another unsettling discovery was a nongranulated lesion in one of my lung lobes.  I have to get another ct in July to check the status of that--of which I have not told my friends or son.  Not ready to deal with them of this.  I keep thinking is this the way it's going to be for me?  Guess I'm not in a good place today either.  I think I will start cleaning.  That I can do!!  Oh well...  I wish you much luck and love,  Ranee

It is so frustrating at times. I had my annual mammo May1, 2008....found a suspicious lump..they ordered another mammo and ultra sound. I had to wait 3 weeks (May 20th) for that. Then had to wait for the radiologist to get back from vacation, another week lost. Then my biopsy was 2 weeks later because my surgeon was on vacation. Now we're up to June 12th... I didn't have the mastectomy until June 30th. It seems I was the only one in a hurry.

I think that it is too soon to tell if the chemo is working or not.You must think positive!!But I know what you mean.Last night I kept thinking that they were punishing me because I was a  smoker( up until my masectomy) or that they have already labeled me a "goner" .I hope that I don't have an infection that will hold up chemo.Last week they stopped my antibiotics and now I have swelling under my arm and below my rib cage.I was hoping that I had done too much. Please take it easy and rest. You are supposed to get alot of sleep while you are getting treated.Good luck with mondays round and have a wonderful Mother's Day.-Love and God Bless,Lorraine
