I was told by my physician that tumor markers can change over time or due to previous chemotheraphy, so that it's possible that my current recurrence might not be triple negative.   Has anyone ever heard of this, or what the probability is of this happening?

It depends on what you mean by "tumor markers".  See this information, perhaps it will help:

If the recurrent tumor matches the ER/PR, HER2 receptor of the primary cancer, it is felt to be a recurrence from the primary tumor.  Blood markers are different from ER/PR, HER2 testing of tissue.

Just FYI: My previous oncologist wanted to biopsy a new node in my neck to see if the cancer might have changed from triple negative.   I declined that surgery.  My current oncologist says that sometimes a positive receptor will change to negative, but a negative hardly ever changes to a positive.
