Hello Everyone, I am new to the forum I just completed 4 rounds of CarboPlatin and Taxotere on 5/21/09. Diagnosed triple negative 12/08. It is a 2nd diagnosis. 10 years ago I was diagnosed with stage IIB Breast cancer; 17 lymph nodes positive; 8 rounds of chemo and radiation, oh and I had a lumpectomy. so, 10 years later after routine mamogram a lump was found in same breast only triple negative. 10 years ago the tumor was er positive. Had double masectomy January with tisssue expanders. Has anyone experienced sever swelling in thighs after walking or standing? In the morning they go down a little, but swell again. The side of my thighs are also sore to the touch. Also have swelling in ankles and upper leg. Has anyone experinced this after? I did have weight gain due to fluid retention 10 years ago, but this feels different and how do I know the difference of blockage of veins or lymph system? Oops, maybe I shjould be asking the doctor that part. (callling in the a.m.) Thanks!

Hi Joyce and welcome.Smile

Oh boy, sorry to see you are working on a second diagnosis.  So you went 10 yrs.  I am sure you must have been shocked to have it come back with a different pathology, we know that can happen.

The swelling/fluid retention is a side effect of Taxotere, that I know from my own experience.
You should discuss this with your doctor because for some it takes awhile to go away.  For the fluid retention they may give you something to help.
I know it can be miserable.

Lymphedema can be a problem for some.  Here is a link or two that may help you out,

You are most welcome to ask whatever is on your mind and we will be happy to help.
