Hi All

Just got a call from Social Security...and they tell me that my SSDI was approved!!!!!  YEAH!!!!

It's been so hard...no income since May 2008 - We lost our small computer shop business...and even though we paid into unemployment...because we owned our own business...neither my husband or I are allowed to get unemployment....Because we're middle class with some cash in savings...we can't qualify for anything that is asset related...

Been living on savings...but with 8500.00 out of pocket last year for medical..which is now due again this year.....It's almost all gone... Our credit line is almost maxed out... I just didn't know what we would do...

I've read about all of you courageous gals...who work through your treatment...and I just don't know how on earth you do it...  I've been so sick...Every bad rare side effect to everything...hit me...and knocked me right on my rump...It's been like a wild roller coaster ride in H*LL that just won't end...

Anyway...

Thank God that Social Security approved my application.

I waited a long time to apply because I really really didn't think that they would approve me...since I'm just Stage IIIc and not Stage IV (yet)...

I think the secret is 1) If your treatment plan lasts over 1 year - this includes reconstruction...you should apply 2) Document all of your side effects..that may prevent you from working during your treatment plan...SSDI is not based on income..only you're ability to work...you're not whining...you're just being honest about the toll this thing is taking on you...

So my message to my wonderful sisters who may be wondering IF they should apply...My answer is YES!!! APPLY!!!

Alene,

This is indeed a day to be really really happy!!Big%20smile I know of persons who qualified for SSI and who should have never been approved. Never! You save your money, pay you bills, are unable to work due to a life threatening disease, and yet they would question that? Shame on our governmentAngry Alene, I don't think there is any "middle class' anymore. There are the very rich and the poor. We fall into the latter category....millions of us.

Sweetie, we all know that everyone reacts to the treatments differently, and you had an extremely rough time of it. For many it never ends. Do not ever feel badly about that.

So Alene let's have a SSI party...Clap
Love and hugs,
Nancy

I also got SSD and am stage 3...I agree, go ahead an apply and document all your side effects and make sure that you let your doctors know every one of them so they are in the doctors files also....don't be afraid to complain to them so that they put it in the files...I also have arthritis in both knees and need to use a cane if I walk a long distance..It was a blessing to us to finally get it ...It is so hard when you have no income and medical bills to pay...I am lucky that at least my husband is working and we have insurance.

Alene that is wonderful, congratulations!!

We all differ in how our bodies react to these meds.  Some are able to pull it off and some aren't.
