| I posted last week because my Dr. had given me a horriblew prognosis. I'm Stage II, post mastectomy with no lymph node involvement and clear margins during surgery. The wonderful Dr. said I'd have a 90% occurance rate even though he had no stastical data, he was just using the odds. I was so freaked out. I went to visit antother oncologist on Friday with all my records and he said that the other Dr was inaccurate and he's got research backed my MD Anderson and that things were not as bad as the other Dr had made out. I am so glad that I had a 2nd opinion. Now I know that I'm not doing this all in vain. It's very disheartening when your Dr who is supposed to care gives you no hope and pretty much tells you WHEN it comes back, then we'll treat it then. 4 more treatments of Gemzar and Carboplatin and then my life will begin again. This chemo kicks my butt every week. |

Contrary to popular belief and their own feeling of self-importance, lots of doctors are mediocre jerks. I'm glad you did switch and found one that takes his profession and patients serious. Every cancer has a chance of recurrance, that's just something we all have to live with, but getting scared out of your wits shouldn't be part of the treatment.
Hang in thre with the chemo treatment, it's a doozey to have to go through, but if you go and imagine the beating the cancer cells are taking every time, it makes it worthwhile. At least it helped me but then, I'm sometimes a little out in left field anyway. ------------- August 2007, Stage III, 5+ cm, Grade 4F, 4 FAC with booster after 4 days, 12 weekly Taxol, radical mastectomy, 36 radiation treatments.
