My wife has triple negative metastatic BC and is planning to start a chemo cocktail called CMF. Does anyone have experience with CMF for metastatic patients? I know it was usually used for early diagnosed patients. I would like to hear experience of others who have tried CMF.
Thanks, Brynna

Hi Brynna,

CMF was a common chemotherapy combination used for adjuvant treatment.  With the introduction of anthracyclines, it's been replaced as the standard for early breast cancer.  I read about 10% use of CMF now, but one study showed it may be more effective with basal subtypes than anthracyclines.

For metastatic treatment, has she had other chemo or is this the first line of treatment?

Thank you. I read somewhere that it had made a comeback and is being used with more advanced cancers. Rosemary has had about every standard chemo available. We are out of options, except for CMF and clinical trials. I read that it can be effective with TNBC.

The first article was helpful. I couldn't find an article related to CMF in the second link.

Hi BrynnaK,

Welcome to our TNBC forum. Sorry your wife has mTNBC. My experience with helping women who received CMF with mTNBC is very mixed. I think the Korean study
123Donna found is interesting and I also found a recent article that you may find of interest.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6980632/" rel="nofollow - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6980632/

The group of authors are quite diverse-Russia, U.S. and Israel.

This is a study involving one 48 year old woman who had a partial response with Elanagen and CMF. I am not a medical professional and will not give you/your wife medical advice
so I am not saying you should try this combination or not but I found the study interesting.

I am a patient advocate and have helped many on this site over the last 10 years. But again, I am not a medical professional but might be able to refer you to a mTNBC
knowledgeable breast medical oncologist. In these awful Covid days some wonderful oncologists will only see a patient in-person for the first consult and others will do Zoom conferences. Challenging times.

If you would like to discuss with me I would be happy to...You can send me a PM and I will send you my phone number and email contact. If you prefer you can write me at
contact@sagepatientadvocates.info and I can set-up a Zoom conference. There are no charges.

warmly,

Steve

Thank you very much for the information in Elenagen. It sounds promising. I tried to find on the Internet if Elenagen is considered immunotherapy, but couldn't understand the answers. Do you know? Rosemary is unable to use immunotherapy because of another illness she has.
