Some of you will remember me.  I'm Elaine, Mary's Mom.  She at 34 was diagnosis in January and has had neoadjuvent chemo AC/T four cycles each and is now almost 60 days out of chemo and having a double mast the Friday after next.  She's a mess and so am I.  Fortunately her doctor has prescribed some meds that might help with her anxiety.  Mr, I will rely on Captain Mortgan for my help.

Anyway. you have all been a great source of support to me.  Just women sharing - that's about the most powerful thing I can think of.

She will have a skin sparing procedure with Alloderm and an exchange from the expanders in a few months.

Good luck, prayers and hug to you all.  I'll be praying for you all.

If you have any advice for her or me - bring it on!!

Love and Hugs, ElaineHug

Hi Elaine and it's so good to hear from you and hear how Mary is doing, thanks for checking in!

That is good they have given Mary something for anxiety.  I can still remember being wheeled into the operation room last year crying.
Having loved ones with her before and after surgery will be a huge support, this is a rough surgery emotionally.

I don't know how I would have got thru it if my sister and her hubby had not flown in to stay a few days before and after.  They were both a big support for me and she helped me for a few days after I got home.

I probably took a little longer to recover since I am older, I guess that is why and I did not do reconstruction.
My daughter had a single mast at diagnosis last year and then when her treatments were thru she had the other side removed and started her reconstruction.  She did really well thru all of it and only took a couple of days to recover and was back again taking care of the kids, working and running errands.  Nothing seems to keep her down.Smile

So test the waters I guess after she has come home from surgery and see how she is doing and you will know if she needs to stay down and needs help around the house.  Just being there with her will mean the most.

I sure hope all goes smoothly for Mary and please let us know she is doing.

Hug

Elaine,

I think that Pam said it all. This will be a very emotional time for Mary.
It is so good to see postings from you. As Lori's Mom, I know what you are going through and so does Pam. We are Mothers for all of our life, and just a band-aid and a kiss on the boo-boo, won't make this go away.

Hugs,
Nancy

Thanks so much for the hugs and prayers.  Mary will be coming home with me from the hospital and wants to sleep with me in my big bed.  My DH - and he is a DH! - told her she could sleep with her Mom every night if she wanted to - he can sleep anywhere.  So I'm happy I will have her home with me so I can dote on her.

I'll let you know how it goes.

HUGS TO ALL

Love, Elaine
