Has anyone asked their radiation oncologist to limit radiation to the breast only due to concerns about heart disease? No one in my family has died from cancer. But three of my grandparents died of heart attacks, and my father had a triple bypass last year. I had a lump in my left breast. I had neoadjuvant chemotherapy and just had a lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node biopsy. All 5 nodes that were removed were clean - no cancer. The lump had been destroyed by the chemo, and the path report on the scar tissue removed from the breast shows no evidence of residual disease, so I achieved pCR from the chemo. I need to have radiation to get the same effect as having a mastectomy. Because the cancer was in my left breast, I am very concerned about radiation damaging my heart. I am considering having only the breast radiated while lying face down. Has anyone else done this?

Here are a couple links regarding prone position radiation and it's benefits.
