It is now day 3 after my first chemo treatment and I'm still feeling good. Just waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Mary, It just might not drop, I found the first treatment to go pretty well. So many people tolerate treatments well. Go out and enjoy life. Natalie

Dear Mary,
Natalie is correct in saying that the other shoe "may not" drop. But, please keep up with your fluids, exercise and don't let constipation set-in.
I volunteer at the clinic where I received chemo 7 years ago. In the past few weeks 3 ladies have come in after the 3rd infusion with awful fatigue, dehydration and such. That is the way chemo works. It is cumulative and the more your body gets the more likely you are to have more side effects. Just remember..... IT IS NOT FOREVER. I'm not telling you this now to scare you, only to let you know that you need to take care of yourself all through treatment.
Please enjoy your good days and follow your body's voice when it says rest.
God Bless,
Lillie

Lillie - Yes, I know it is cumulative and I do expect it to get worse before it gets better. Today I'm just grateful for a slow start. I've done my research and I'm trying to be prepared for what's most likely ahead of me so it doesn't scare me. I am looking forward to March, 2014 when it will be finished. Mary

Mary:
Rest when you can and listen to your body. FLUIDS particularly water will help immensely on flushing that poison out of you so you can continue to feel "functional". My mom would come stay on my chemo weeks and I called her the water nazi. LOL But it helped.

Hi mary, the water part is so important, found out on my own, alot of onco's dont tell you about hydration, but i drank all day and took compazine around the clock, just in case, after second chemo , i stopped compazine, when i knew that i was'nt gonna get sick. I ate normal foods in small portions. Had a bowl of cereal at bedtime. Hope this helps, lizzylou.....

My daily routine: drink, pee, drink, pee, repeat until bedtime, then pee, pee, pee and start all over the next day. So far so good on nausea. Hope it stays that way. Took Emend days 1,2 and 3; and steriods through day 4. Today is day 5..

Mary, Yay glad it is still going well. I did thr emend also so glad it worked for me throughout. Steroids though after a while started to get to me, especially with the boost they gave ne at the start of infusion. Uggg made me want to jump out of my skin. Keep them fluids going, I aslo drank a ton of the Goya nectars ( mango & peach were my favs). Did a lot of cottage cheese and fruit also. I know sounds yucky but I made sure to keep up the dairy ( forget why now LOL ). Natalie
