Set for Oct 18 at 11 a.m. Be there at 7 a..m. I have to go for a pre op appt. What do they do there?

They said it takes 1 1/2 hours.

Tracy,

What type of surgery did you decide upon?  Not all facilities do the same procedures and will share my experience.  Usually during the pre op appointment they may do a chest x-ray, blood work (could be CBC, Metabolic Panel, Blood Type testing), possibly urine sample, weight, blood pressure.  If you've had recent blood work, they may not need to do it again.  They will probably ask you some general questions about whether you've had surgery before, any problems with anesthesia, pain meds, etc.  They may give you some literature about what to expect from the surgery, recovery tips, etc.

Wishing you the best!,

Donna

I am having the cancer breast removed and then expander put in and uplifted at the end and some implant put in the other also to try to make them even as possible.

I am excited just to get this med port out.  They replied and said it shouldn't take long but its at a outpatient clinic so I have to wait along with other people in line even though I have an appt.

At any rate I am glad its finally here and I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel

Should my dr have suggested a double masectomy if my grandmother and her sister had breast cancer. I  was reading a reply from a dr on facebook and now it has me questioning my dr's advice about just removing one.

Tracy:
I don't see that you tested for BRCA.  To me you could be a candidate and I know that a positive BRCA would compel me to have a double.  As always it is your decision.

Good Luck Sweetie.

I didn't tested positive for any brca facctors but it just runs in my family. My plastic surgeon maybe didn't look at my history. I dunnno. I am meeting with the nurse on Wed and go over it with her. I have my pre op evaluation on Wed also. Its just s big decision and I would get 5 opinions if I have to make sure I am getting the right treatment.
