Hey everyone,

I finished 4 AC q 3 weeks and just had my sendond weekly Taxol. Im worried because my kidney and liver function are declining. Not only is it reflected in my labs I feel physical pain where my liver and kidneys are. Did anyone have this problem and if so did your doctor put your chemo on hold? Im worried. I try to drink as much water as possible but with my work schedule and living in the desert it isnt enough. Help!!

Love and healing,

Anna

Anna,
I myself never had a reaction like that. You don't really say if you mentioned what is going on for you to your Onc. or Primary.
Please speak tp them about it.
Water was hard for me to take a lot of the time unless ice cold. I drajk a ton of coconut water, hydrated me very well.
Feel better soon,
Natalie

I was on Taxol for a year and a half and never had the pain in my liver or kidney area. My kidney function lab work always remained good, but did have some fluctuations in my liver enzymes. One week they would be up and then the next week down. My doctor said he was not going to worry about the liver enymes unless they went up and stayed up.
Best wishes
Traci

Hi Anna,
It sounds as though an infusion of saline fluids could be in order.   A lot of people who get chemo, where I volunteer, come in and get infusions to keep from getting dehydrated or because they have gotten dehydrated to a dangerous level.
Drinking water is good, but lots of time the fluid needs to be replinished directly into the blood stream.  Ask you oncologist about this.

Good luck,
Lillie
