Any good advice on what helps with this chemo related side affect?  I can't really chew gum, I get migraines from chewing gum too much.

Thanks :)

Make sure you are using a mouth wash, when the mouth is affected by this stuff it can really do a number on it. I drank gallons & gallons of Goya nectars, Mango & peach were my favorites ( reasonably priced also). You can get them in the ethenic aisle of the supermarket. I also drank a lot of coconut water. Plain water didn't cut it for me very much.

Biotene makes great products for dry mouth. They have a non alcohol mouth wash, that won't burn and they have a handy mouth spray that will fit into your purse. I used them all the time as the PA at my onc's office suggested them. You don't want to get mouth sores and Biotene will help out. In fact, I still use the mouthwash. Good luck!

I have always used biotene or act for dry mouth and biotene gum and biotene toothpaste.

The mougard stuff I hated along with the magic mouthwash. Those are the last resort options as I call them.

I had my first dental checkup since chemo.  I got raving praise.  No problems yet.  I did not use the biotine, I did not like the way it tasted.  With me if I get a bad taste it can turn into a migraine.  What I used was a listerine that is alcohol free.  My dentist also stressed using a fluoride rinse every day.  If you do be careful because some are labelled "total" and those have alcohol in it as an astringent.
