Actually I was 69 when diagnosed & 70 when I had my mastectomy. Dx: 3/10 IDC*TNBC Mastectomy 5/10, Stage IIB, Grade 3, 5.1cm, SN 0/3, M 0, no reconstruction, Chemo of Taxotore & Cytoxan, then radiation.

Tested positive for BRCA1 mutation (187delAG) in 4/09 @ age 44; BSO 9/09; diagnosed w/TNBC in 10/09; 1 cm Stage 1 TNBC IDC, grade 3 + 1.5 cm DCIS; BMX 11/09, nodes clear; chemo (AC/T).

ER postive in 2007 10 nodes in underarm,primary unknown, right side, did chemo and rad. Dec. 2011 TN left side 1.5 CM no nodes stage 1 did cmf chemo and rads.

While I'm here I'll ask if anyone who was dx after age 60 was able to have their insurance pay for the BRCA genes testing? I've been told I don't meet the 2 of 3 criteria: TNBC, under age 60 and or 2 or more relatives with BR or ovarian cancer. I'm TN, 65 and an adoptee. I have told the lab to go ahead and do the test and send the bill to Medicare and UHC. They will deny it and I will fill an appeal. My oncologist feels it's an important piece of info that will determine my treatments going forward. And anyway - isn't 60 the new 40!!!! Nana Mimi
