Just had my surgery on Jan 2nd. Now just waiting to go see oncologist. This is my second time around for this. 1st time tumor was 2cm. This time 8mm. I had chemo and radiation with 1st cancer. I have been reading about TNBC, which is what I had last time and this time, I have been reading and some sites say that chemo does not help TNBC. It has been 12 yrs between last cancer and this one. So what is true. does chemo help or not. I am not even sure if I will have it since my tumor was under 1cm. Everything is so confusing. I hate waiting this long to find out what happens next. Surgeon did call and say there was no cancer in surrounding tissue the removed or the sentential node. Gee, I am only 56 and not ready to leave this world yet.

Gosh, I'm sure it is really disappointing, to say the least, to have to deal with this again. But, there are many positives about your case, I think. Small tumor both times. Thank goodness your new one was discovered at only 8mm. Clear lymph nodes--another positive thing. My understanding is that often TNBC is very chemo sensitive, but sometimes it isn't. Twelve years before a local recurrence is not so bad and as long as it is local, it's still considered curable. Perhaps they will recommend a different chemo drug or perhaps none at all. What drugs did you have the first time? I hope you don't have to wait too long to get answers. And, you could also get a second or third opinion. Wish you the best. Let us know how it goes.

I'm so sorry, vwine. Cancer recurrence is my biggest fear. This year will be eight years for me. What course of treatment is recommended for you? Please let us know how you are doing. Sending positive thoughts your way.
