I was diagnosed in May with metastatic disease when they found a breast cancer tumor on my chest wall. I had previously had breast cancer surgery in December 2010, TAC chemo in February 2011, and radiation in July 2011. I started xeloda in May of this year and was just told that the disease is progressing. My next step is avastin and taxol. Anyone have any info on this? Side effects? Success stories? Thanks!

My sis had a recurrence and the Xeloda was not successful for her. She switched to Abraxane with an Avastin chaser and it was amazing the work that that combo did. She went from dismal outlook to tumors shrinking and managed. See if you can get the Abraxane instead of the Taxol, which is often substituted for the Taxol. Both are workhorses, in my opinion, that just simply kick ass! btw, sis's recurrence was in Nov '08 and she's still with us!
