I was just reading my Mamm mag this afternoon and saw a research brief that was interesting.  For those that do not get Mamm I have added the brief.

"Progress in preventing bone metastases.  Advanced breast cancer often
spreads to the bones, and now scientists at the University of Michigan might know why.  They discovered over-production of a certain type of protein, called nuclear factor-kappa B, in breast cancer cells.
The protein is believed to play a role in stimulating tumor growth, especially in bone, and it could become a potential target for treating breast cancer and preventing bone metastasis, scientiset say."

Hi,

The article makes me just want to sit down with the scientists and help them get the ball rolling on this new bit of info.  I donated my breast tissue for research and I hope they are studying it.  I had to sign a special
consent form allowing it.
I have: "Glycogen Rich Clear Cell Carcinoma of the Breast." Does Anyone else have this Rare form of breast cancer ???

Oh I know Lucky, I'd be happy too to sit right down with you!
Sure wish we could.  I get frustrated because even with the clinical
trials there is always something that disqualifies me.

So you donated your breast tissue for research?  What a great idea, I didn't know you could do that but then you have the rare type and they certainly need to learn what is going on there.  Good for you.Thumbs%20Up

Hi,

I really can't take credit for that because it wasn't something that even crossed my mind.

When my surgeon and I were discussing the double mastectomy that I was going to have -  he asked me if I were willing to donate my breast tissue for research.  I asked him if he asked that of all the other patients he had operated on.
He said -  " No -  it's only because your cancer is an extremely rare one."   -  and emphasized that although my cancer is Not even being researched -   it hopefully will help the others with the more common forms of cancer.  I was totally okay with that and gladly signed the consent form.
