Went to my onc for my 3 month check up and good so far. My blood counts are back to normal. I'll have some scans done and more bloodwork in May so I left my port in. She told me I could have it taken out 3 months ago but I wanted at least one scan in before I take it out. I was sitting in the chemo room waiting to get my port flushed and was talking to a young lady who asked me if I was getting my infusion today. I told her I was done with treatment, just getting port flushed and she told me her lymph node in her neck popped out a couple weeks after getting her port removed so they had to put one back in. I can see her looking at me hair wondering if it was a wig so I told her, yeah it's a wig and showed her my hair - she loved it!
As I was waiting the cutest little old lady was parading a tee-shirt her daughter sent her that said " GO AHEAD .... POKE MY PORT!" I hope to have such a positive lively outlook when I reach her age. She had everyone laughing :)
Happy Valentines Day! I've been trying to avoid coming on during my lunch at work, just in case they track our perosonal internet usage so I might not be back for a few days. Be safe.

CiGi,
I am so glad to hear your blood counts are back to normal! I would imagine you are looking forward to the day the port can come out. I will be done with the Avastin in June. Avastin can cause issues with bleeding, so they won't remove the port for at least a month. Hopefully, it will come out in July. I am looking forward to that day. Hopefully, it will be the day that I will have removed the last visible sign that I have cancer. I plan on having a full head of hair (it might be gray and with the worst cowl-licks,but it will be there). I hate to test fate, and in some ways removing the port feels like I will be testing fate. I do love my port, and it has made treatment so much easier. But it is close to having served its purpose, and I want it to be gone forever.
How is your joint pain? Mine continues, but it's better this week. My feet still hurt, though. Just when I think it's better I have several days where I am limping around. Still, I feel stronger all of the time.

Lori - my joint pain is almost gone. It does flare up a little when I stand too long or walk too far or sit still for too long like driving really far. Two months ago, my joints hurt so bad I could barely walk, sitting hurt, laying down hurt, so moving or not nothing helped. I too was limping around. I did stop taking all vitamins for about a week and started back up again. It lasted for at least 6 weeks and I'm feeling pretty good now.
I have the cow-licks too! Most of my hair is straight but there are a few spots that stick out and won't flatten. My hair used to be a dark brown with a gray streak and it was wavy/frizzy. Now it's almost black, grayer streak, and mostly straight.

So - I went to get my first follow-up mammo. They did the mammo and then I sat in the waiting room with 2 other women. No one said a word, just sat there. The doctor reviews the films to see if you need an further testing. They came out and told me I'm good to go! So, I'm taking that as they didn't see anything of concern. I don't see my onc until next Friday. Keep ya posted. I think she'll do some markers tests, not sure if I have other scans or not. We'll see.

Hi Gigi, glad to hear things are going good for you! We were pretty close on treatments and all so Its good to hear things are finishing up with you. I've had my 3 month radiation check up which was fine, and have a 6 month check up with the oncologists in July. I'll get my first mamo done at that time, so patiently waiting for that. I had my port out a month ago and thankfully no problems with that. Like others to, the joint pain can sure be a pain some days. But I'm up and moving so I just grin and bear it I guess. Just trying to get life back to as much normallcy as we can! Good luck with everything!

Good luck to you too tnbcsucks. Every now and then my joints hurt, but not like it was in December, OMG I felt like I could not move or sit or be comfortable at all.
So I got my hair cut for the first time on Sunday!!! I'm now sporting my new short hair without the wig :) My hair is really curly now, thick and almost black! I told everyone at work that I decided to go back to my natural hair and that the color came out a little dark. It came out so good that a young lady in the hair salon wanted to cut her hair short like mine! I didn't want to tell her what I went through to have such great hair. So if you are going to lose your hair or have already lost it, really don't worry, it's wonderful when it's back!!!
I see the onc on Friday, hopefully they run some more tests before they send me on my way. What's really scary is every time something ails me, I think - OMG it's back, then I feel better and I think - thank you Lord for making me better. I'm not very religious but I find myself praying all the time. I try not to be selfish, so I pray for others too. My friend's mom has colon cancer that they found from a follow-up on a kidney infection. She went in for surgery on Friday and I have not heard back from her, so I'm concerned. Praying for her too!!!

Hi CiGi,
Congrats on the good news!
I also had my first mammo in March and they said the same as you afterwards, then the report stated no malignancy. Also reported as okay per my surgeon when I saw him afterwards.
I saw my onc yesterday in second one-month follow-up since finishing my chemo, and she also said she would be doing tumor markers. She explained they are not 100% diagnostic with breast cancer but can help along with other diagnostic tools if the need ever arises, meaning suspected recurrence. She did not feel any other scans were necessary, but said if any unusual aches, pains or stuff occurs to let her know. I will be having follow-up with her every 3 months for a year. I will get another mammo 6 months after radiation which will be about November.
I also pray all the time and will keep you in my prayers for continued good health.
Sue

Congrats to all of you.....Cigi, TNBCsucks, and Sue. I am so very happy for all of you....and hope to experience what you all are experiencing (NED) some day soon. I don't consider myself a religious person either.....but I find myself praying more often, including all who have to fight this horrible thing called CANCER. Warm Hugs From Texas, Martha

Hello everyone - finally have time to post. Been logging on every so often. I finally had time to make my appointment to have my port removed. I only had it about a year longer than I needed to. I had it removed last week. So far doing good, keeping fingers crossed. Each day I worry a little less but keeping my eyes open. My good friend at work, her friend who started treatment the same time that I did has had four small tumors found on her brain. She has two small girls. I'm praying for her. Hoping that 2012 will be a much better year for everyone. Be well and safe.

Oh yeah, also I know why I get the hiccups often. I had a ct scan in April to check my lungs, which they were clear but the pulmonologist did not send me the results of the scan. My oncologist follow-up appointment, she asked if I got my results of my ct scan and I told her that I was told the results but did not get copy, so she printed it for me. I read it and is says that I have a hiatal hernia so I ask her what that is and she explains and then asks me if I get acid reflux, heartburn, excessive burping... SO I ask her can this cause hiccups and she told me it does! She told me to take acid reducing med for a week and see if they go away, then stop for a week and see if they come back. I did it and they were gone, and also returned. She advised me to go to a gastro to have it checked out. Mystery solved!!
