Jackie,
I know that Connie takes the turmeric in capsule form. I use the organic ground turmeric. Just 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon mixed with a bit of olive oil and a pinch of black pepper. It is the black pepper which multiplies the body's absoprtion of turmeric by two thousand. If it is not mixed with the black pepper, it does not pass the intestinal barrier.
I bought the 30 capsules for $20.00, and then decided that the powder form was a bit more beneficial, and less expensive. The capsules are probably much more easier to take. I put the turmeric on my eggs, salads, meat just everything. I do not cook with it...just add it to my food. From what the person at the natural food store told me, it destroys the properties when you heat it.
The book, Anti Cancer, a New Way of life, by David Servan-Schreiber, MD, PhD is an excellent book. Both Lori and I highly recommend it. He tells of the benefits of many foods/spices. He has had brain cancer twice and has beat it.
Hugs,
Nancy

I have had great success with the turmeric taking two 500 mg capsules in the morning and two 500 mg capsules in the evening. I had been taking Naprosyn 500 mg every 12 hours since 1994 and I do not take any for my arthritis, herniated disks, degenerative disk disease - just the turmeric.
For some reason the ground fresh flaxseed (kept refrigerated) is the one that does us the most benefit - rather than the oil.
If you take a look through the forum topics we had a whole section devoted to the studies regarding flaxseed and triple negative.
The Brassica Tea is the one developed by Johns Hopkins - and has the SDG found in broccosprouts (the tea is delicious and I do not buy any other green tea since I discovered this one).
I think as a baseline any woman newly diagnosed should have her baseline vitamin D value documented....they have found that women with low vitamin D levels in their body tend to be the ones with more disease process down the road. Remember it is vitamin D3 that you want.
Nancy has totally forgotten my heritage and the hot and spicy properties of my diet! She does not know heat until she eats hot Italian sausage, fried hot peppers and eggs, home grown hot pepper dried and crushed (we are talking fire department time).
Love,
Conne

Thank you Nancy, I will get the book and try the tumeric on my food. There is a mediterranian bakery/deli here that sells it in little plastic deli boxes. They buy in mass and grind it themselves. I don't know if it is organic. If not, probably Whole Foods has organic. I noted someone mentioned vitamin D level. I did not have mine checked until after I finished chemo and it was extremely low. I am on 1400 mg day now. Wish I had known that earlier! I have 2 birth daughters and one adopted that I am reminding freq about this.

Jackie,
If i didn't send you the info on D3 please just send me a private message with your email address and I will do so. I also posted another article on that in the news forum within the past week. You levels are to be between 50-90- with the 70's being optimal for anyone dx with cancer. To get to that most doctors prescribe 50,000 iu's a week for a few weeks and then some are still prescribing 5000 iu's a day until they get them up.
My water aerobic instructor was taking 1000 iu's a day since November at my insistance, and still her levels were only 26. She is Native American. Her doctor had prescribed 4000 but now is giving her the 50,000 to get them up some. W. is not super dark skinned, but we know that African Americans, Hispanics and Native Americans skin does not absorb the sun's rays as does a white persons.
These individuals all need at least 40-60 minutes in the sun each and every day....WITHOUT SUNSCREEN!! The sunscreen blocks 90% of the sun's rays. No wonder we are such a sickly country. We are being told to use the "chemical sunscreen "....my words ...or we will develop skin cancer. Just heard that on the news last night, and to that I say....BS!! Our immune systems are so out of whack that we cannot possibly be well people. The immune system is driven by the amount of D3 that we have in our bodies. The sun....and what we cannot or do not get from the sun. naturally...D3.
Ok...enough dear Jackie...BTW... I really like the taste of the ground turmeric. To my dear friend Connie....love that Italian food!!!
Hugs,
Nancy

Thanks, Josie - I came through it fine. A long long day! First the iv, the US needle guided wire in tumor, then the blue dye shot (she did give me lidocaine for it). Then the blood clot shot next to the belly button and the finally, the surgery. My sentinal node was clear, but I will wait until path tells me that officially, although they did US it and "gieger" countered it! US gal told me the nodule was almost 1.1 - not 1.5 cm, but again will wait until next weds. for the official path. I am wrapped pretty tight (like a tube top) and she said to remove it on Friday. I hurt but not real bad just so very, very tired and my legs get to feeling rubbery when I stand longer than 10 minutes, so it's back to bed to watch tv. Will post more as I get a bit more strength back and right now off to bathroom to tinkle - I love the blue color it is! Hope all is well with everyone and thanks again for remembering my first day of officially fighting this b*tch of a disease.
Love,
Linda

Halo Linda, sorry to hear of your diagnosis=dx. I was dx at 42 estrogen/progesterin negative breast cancer, with 12 of 21 positive lymph nodes that was a young age and worst case scenario because of the negative dx. my surgeon ugh gave me 2 years.........well I dont believe docs are gods so, now I can say phoooey on him I did chemo, cuz my cancer was so advanced with so many nodes involved radiation and bone marrow transplant and I am now 55 years old my 3 kiddos are now grown 24, 23, 19 ! So some of my survivor friends believe its the luck of the draw, we dont know why some have bc and it doesnt come back and some it does there is no rhyme or reason, age=nope, color, gender none of that matters and family history is only 10% I had no family history soooooooooooooooooooooo, I just found this site and very happy to have found it us negative survivors need drug support too ! here here Ssbc3

Sasbc3 - That is such great news and I am so happy for you. I wish you nothing short of at least another 50 healthy years! You post encourages me, and right now I really, really need that. And, yes, this is truly a great site. I am so thankful I found it too. Much thanks.

Linda, great to hear that your initial results sound so promising--so far so good! You took such a huge step today--I am sure you are happy to know that cancerous lump is no longer in your body. Get some rest, be a couch potato, don't worry about posting, and let someone spoil you for a few days!

Josie - thanks for the kind post and that is just what I am doing - being a couch potato! I am tired and legs are still a little wobbley, but feeling pretty darn good. No pain meds and minor pain at times, not even constant. Hope it stays like this and only gets better until ugly chemo time!
Hugs,
Linda

Much thanks, Bev. At least that crap is out of me. The hardest part is just sitting and waiting, knowing full well that "IT" may not just be sitting and waiting!

I sure hear you there Linda, I'm just over 3 wks. from the time I had my Double Mass. I was wondering how I'd ever come to terms with the fact that I have Breast Cancer. But you know as each days goes by and I feel better day by day, the thought of it gets easier and easier to deal with. The key is accepting it, and getting back to the job of Living our lives. I feel luckier than some, I now appreciate everyone and everything around me each and every day!
A blanket of warm huggs for you,
Bev

Oh so true, Bev. I just hate the "downs" when they hit, and I guess we are always susceptible to them. Once diagnosed, life is never the same, we have lost our innocence.
Hugs,
Linda

Hi Jen,
X-Long Islander here, East Meadow! I live in Maine now and only miss the Pizza there! Sorry to hear of your dx, but us newbies have stumbled on a very nice site. Are you planning on taking Chemo? As for me I had a double Mass, and going all natural. Keep your chin up girl! And welcome to the site.
