I wanted to list Revered Martha Phillips Lewis in our Memory List.  She posted many times on the Spiritual Support thread.
She died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2011 at the Duke Hospice Facility in Durham, NC after a five year battle with breast cancer.
She was the pastor at Campbell's Creek United Methodist Church in Aurora until her medical condition forced her to give up that appointment.
Prior to that she was pastor of Pollocksville, NC Methodist church.
From her posts you could tell that she was a very up-beat person with lots of Hope.

Love and God Bless,
Lillie

Lillie, I'm so sorry to hear it.  What was her forum name?
I'm sure you and Carol and the rest of those of you active on the SS thread were a big comfort to her.
with love and sorrow,

Hi Denise,
Her forum name was "Marthac" -  Actually if you read her posts you will see that she ministered to us as much or more than we did to her.  She was a woman of such strong Christian Faith.
The thing for me is to have resolution in my mind about what happened to her.  She is in a far better place and she knew it way in advance of her death.

Love and God Bless,
Lillie

Lillie and family and friends of Revered Martha Phillips Lewis,

Deepest sympathy with caring thoughts and prayers.

May Revered Martha Phillips Lewis' love encircle her family and friends now and always.

This is from her obituary notice on Legacy.com:      What a caring woman.
"......While serving as pastor of Pollocksville Methodist Church, she started a program to provide weekend meals for needy children at Pollocksville Elementary School. Called "Blessings In A Backpack," each Friday children receive a backpack containing a weekend's worth of non-perishable food and an optional blessing from local church members. Local church members package the meals, fill the donated backpacks, and
pass them out on Friday. On Monday, the children return with an empty backpack and a full stomach, ready to learn. Now in its third year, the program presently feeds 110 children at Pollocksville Elementary School.

Judy,
Thank you for posting the obituary link.
I never met Martha, but we did discuss the possibility.  Her last post on this forum was Aug. 19, 2011.

God Bless,
