Good luck, Donna. It's important to remember what is often said here, that everyone reacts to chemo in different ways. A friend of mine who was in a demanding management job worked all through her chemo and radiation when she had BC a few years back. She had to take off days here and there, and she relied on the people under her more than ever, but it worked for her. I think it helped her stay sane.

I work from home and ironically enough, my boss moved me to my home office in Feb. this year.  he has been amazing. upon returning from a business trip  (china) he was calling my customers and writing orders for me.  He is a truly amazing man that I love, his wife and son work for our company and they are great.  I feel blessed, as I have only been working for him for just one year now.
I too need the distraction, and need to feel some sense of normalcy in all of this craziness.  We will get through this.

I  have found that having a CaringBridge website is very helpful. It is very easy to create and does not cost you anything but time.

Steve,

Does genetic testing provide any information that would be of benefit in determining my treatment or prevention of other types of cancer. I am 50 with no children so do not have that consideration.

Hi Houston,

Steve's been quiet, may be busy.

Although he is much more qualified than myself I do know that knowing your BRCA mutation status can determine your treatment and yes if you were positive one of the things you would want to do is remove your ovaries and consider a bilateral mastectomy..
Women w/BRCA 1 mutation are at high risk not only for breast can cer but ovarian cancer.

This website focuses strictly on genetic information and familial history.
They have not only fantastic information but also you can post on their active forum and I'm sure you'll get several replies on anything having to do with with this subject matter.

Another thing, if you have siblings or other close relatives and you test positive they should be tested also.

Good luck to you and let us know.
