my AST/ALT after surgery were 80/250 and I started taking milk thistle, does that mean my liver is permanently damaged?
doesn't the label say that milk thistle can raise liver levels or damage the liver?  does it really work?
I bought some and started taking it, but took beyond the recommended dose lot and felt itchy

I read that N acetyl cysteine, thiamine can help prevent liver damage in tyenol overdoses where liver levels may be 80/250 or higher, but I'm not a doctor.  I'm worried my liver is scarred after trach surgery.....

I took 12 tablets one day and had some itching again so maybe that is too high a dose.  I lost my father to lung cancer and he had chemo and radiation

This is from the link above:

Dosing

The below doses are based on scientific research, publications, traditional use, or expert opinion. Many herbs and supplements have not been thoroughly tested, and safety and effectiveness may not be proven. Brands may be made differently, with variable ingredients, even within the same brand. The below doses may not apply to all products. You should read product labels, and discuss doses with a qualified healthcare provider before starting therapy.

Adults (over 18 years old)

Silymarin (Legalon®) 230-600 milligrams per day divided into two to three doses has been studied.

Silipide® (IdB 1016) 160-480 milligrams per day in silybin equivalents has also been studied.

I lowered my liver levels with milk thistle and NAC and choline, but I don't know if I did damage.  I was AST ALT 80/260 after surgery and lowered it to 42/66 or something in about 1-2 weeks.  I'm taking liquid milk thistle now and dosing is much higher 2000mg 3x/day, but it seems too much?  I don't know if their claim that they remove the alcohol is correct either.  I took a dose just now and feel a little dizzy and nauseous.
