Dear beloved TNBC family,
When my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in the early 1960's all breast cancer was treated the same, even though we now know there are different types. Now after many decades of often treating TNBC as one disease, with poor results at times, we know there are different subtypes that are more deleterious than others and hopefully, in the years, to come, women will be, as a testing standard, tested for not just ER/PR/HER2Neu
but the subtypes as indicated in the large study above and elsewhere.
More work needs to be done and hopefully, in time, lives will be lengthened and even saved. I am praying that the cancer centers around the country working on this problem such as (not in any particular order) MD Anderson Cancer Center, UNC, Duke, Vanderbilt, Baylor, Cleveland Clinic and others will continue their important work and that advocates like my friend Marquita Bass continue to raise awareness. I will continue to do my part, as well.
with my love to all here,
Steve
