I am currently undergoing neoadjuvant chemo. I've completed 4 AC and 4 Taxol, with 8 Taxol to go.

My tumor, which is in the lymph nodes (no detectable cancer in the breast) shrunk during AC to the point where my doctor could not feel it any more. I had some minor pain during AC.

Four sessions into Taxol, and I don't feel any new growth. However, my lymph nodes and my breast are very sore. And, they feel 'pinched,' which is the way they felt when I first discovered the lump. It feels like something is pushing out. At least one of my lymph nodes is still very swollen. Of course, it doesn't help that I keep feeling around to see if anything has changed.

Has anyone else experience aches or soreness while on Taxol? I thought it would decrease, but it seems pretty constant. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I had quite a bit of pain and discomfort like that during chemo.  For me, too, it felt similar to the pain that led me to discover my tumor, which is very disconcerting.

I did a lot of googling trying to find out if it was bad news, and all I really found was that it was quite common!  Many women attributed it to the tumor shrinking, but like you, I felt it in my armpit and not just in my breast where my tumor was.

All of my worry was for nothing, because I went on to have a complete response to chemo (PCR), and I hope you will do the same!

Still to this day, 8 months out of chemo, I get weird tingles and zaps in my breast, even the lymph nodes in my neck.  Chemo messes with you in odd ways. My oncologist says it's normal.
Dx 09/14 Stage 2 TNBC, Grade 3, 3cm, no nodes. BRCA1+ Neoadjuvant treatment: 4 AC/T, 12 Taxol, 4 Carboplatin. BMX Diep Flap Hyster 3/5/15. Path report PCR, no radiation advised.

Just wondering, my wife had a situation where the PET/CT scans showed inflammation, or abnormal size of the lymph nodes, but Kaiser Permanentne said, "no follow-up needed" but there was a tumor which they couldn't see, because she has dense breast tissue.

Did they tell you why you have a tumor within the lymph nodes?

Gordon15:

I have dense breast tissue, too. I discovered the lump when I finished breast feeding. The mammogram, PET/CT and the breast MRI did not detect anything in the breast. However, the biopsy sample was consistent with breast cancer. So after ruling out any other source, they were able to definitively label it breast cancer.

As for the tumor only in the lymph node area, my oncologist says its not typical, but she has seen it before. Just luck of the draw I guess.

I believe you caught this early, my wife did in her other breast (2008)and had TAC+ radiation, she was stage 2B, and it killed everything. We are hoping for the same for you.
