I begin chemo this week on 10/3. Thanks to everyone here for posting your experiences. I feel about as prepared as one can be before actually experiencing it.

Mary, in the archives under resources are lists of items such as What To Take To Chemo, What To Ask Your Dr, How To Draw On Eyebrows etc. if you haven't perused that section. Some may be helpful, some may be outdated. They were organized by a former member at least 3-4 years ago.

Mary,
Good luck. I never lost my eyebrows but hair everywhere else after 2 1/2 weeks on AC. I hope they give you meds to prepare for the possible side effects . I got pain meds, nausea and steroids. If you are doing AC that is the worst part. Drink as much as you can within the first 48 to got it out of your system. I found that helps alot and be prepared to be in pain days 3-6 after chemo. It does get easier and you get used to it. Get your hair cut now if you can. Mine hurt like a witch so I just shaved it right before it started to fall out.

Thanks. Going into my first session prepared with steroids, pain meds and anit-nausea meds. I already wear my hair very short in a "boy cut". I'm not looking forward to getting chemo started, but I'm very much looking forward to March, 2014 when it will be finished. Mary

Mary , that's the way I was. Are you doing the 4 AC and 4 Taxol? Some have no side effects and I had none. Make sure you have claritin. I am a little over 2 weeks from my last chemo and still have bone pain. Yeah the scalp pain really hurts if you dont' get your hair short. I slept on satin pillowcases which helped. Took long warm baths also.

Four cycles of A/C (every 2 weeks) then 12 weekly Taxol. Going shopping today for satin pillowcases. Hope your pain goes away soon. Mary
