End Chemo Early?

My mom (age 61) has Stage 2, Grade 3, Clear LN. Tumor 2.5cm She had a lumpectomy. She has gone through 4 TC treatments out of 6 which had been recommended and next up is radiation.  The doctor is talking about potentially not doing the last 2 as the side effects may be doing more harm than good the Chemo. Side effects have been pain, rash, itching, leg swelling, and fatigue.  

Any experience with only doing 4 Chemo treatments of TC or stopping early?  I am trying to help my mom decide if she needs to push back if the doctor wants to stop the Chemo and not do the last 2.

Hi MGirl,
At the time of my treatment, I asked my MO about the 4 vs. 6 treatments.  His reply was that the survival rate is the same and I was only prescribed 4 from the beginning.  I do think you have to weigh the negative side effects of chemo with the benefits.  I am in the same age group as your mother; my largest focus of tumor was 1.1 cm, but I had 2 other smaller ones, too.  As my follow-ups have continued, my MO has stated that some people never fully recover from the chemo.  I feel very fortunate that I seem to be back to where I was before this journey began.  If I have a recurrence in the future, I am not going to blame it on the fact that I only did 4, but we all have to choose what we can live with. I wish your mother the best.
