One of the things that I found interesting was the part about Neuropathy. I know lately Beth has mentioned it and I think someone else asked about it one year post treatment. I wanted to post it here since my chemo memory doesn't always hold onto these facts!

"Taxane-based chemotherapy tends to lead to neuropathy which may be a major problem. According to Muss, neuropathy is slow to resolve for patients who have received chemotherapy or may not resolve at all. In older patients, neuropathy can lead to poor balance and could cause falling and other complications. “We have not found any way to prevent this toxicity,” said Muss. A recent study presented at the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) in 2012 showed that about one-half of cancer patients with chemotherapy-induced neuropathy had symptom relief from duloxetine(Drug information on duloxetine) (Cymbalta), an antidepressant drug. “Duloxetine is certainly worthy of consideration, but the drug does come with a lot of its own toxicity which needs to be taken into account,” said Muss."

I don't know if those in active treatment would be able to take Cymbalta or not, but it is certainly worth looking up the study and asking your doctor!

My husband had severe nerve pain from shingles 6 years ago.  In fact, he had shingles in March and I was diagnosed with cancer in June of 2006.   He took cymbalta for about 4 years and it helped him tremendously.  About a year ago he decided he would discontinue the cymbalta, so he finally weaned himself off about 6 months ago.   He frequently remarks now about going back on the cymbalta due to nerve pain he is still experiencing.   To me that is a good indication that it works well in some situations.

God Bless,

Hi all,
I watched a very interesting CNN show tonight regarding the benefits of CBD on many things including Cancer killing possibilities. I googled around and found this article on the effects of Chemo on the heart in particular and the benefit of CBD in protecting the heart. Small study but felt worth posting here. I was actually looking at it for other things also, namely the long term side effect of Chemo. Have to be honest, some stuff I am reaading is rather compelling to say the least.
