My wife was diagnosed with TNBC in June at the age of 52, it is stage 1, grade 2 with some grade 3 cells, was 15mm and has not spread anywhere including the lymph nodes. Surgery to remove went well and was removed with good clearance on the first attempt. Started chemo and has been told by surgeon and oncologist that it is curable, my question being is this even possible with TNBC, it was my understanding that TNBC was not curable and I don't want to look online and get the wrong information. No immunotherapy is being offered, also my wife, understandable is constantly worried that any little bump in either breast could be another cancerous lump, is this likely to happen in such a short space of time. I am in no way looking for a prognosis just any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry you and your wife are having to join this club that does have wonderful members. Many people are decades past a TNBC diagnosis so it is possible to have the same outcomes as other forms of breast cancer, especially with more treatment options becoming available. I don't think most medical professionals use "cured" for any form of cancer, but instead consider NED (no evidence of disease) the most positive outcome. The aggressive nature of TNBC does mean that chemo is typically part of treatment while it might not be for those with a tumor of the same size that is not triple negative.

I am almost 5 years from having a triple-negative tumor removed and have a friend with a similar diagnosis and treatment plan who is now 15 years out.

As to your wife's concern about other bumps, she will likely feel that way for a long time -- possibly for life. Time is not necessarily a factor in those being actual tumors or not, but the good thing is she will be seeing an oncologist frequently for the next few months so she can mention her concerns to someone who can examine them. Nothing is really going to reduce those fears except perhaps time. Best of luck to your wife (and you).

I am 53 newly diagnosed with stage 1 grade 3 IDC and DCIS. Diagnosed October 2024 and had successful surgery November 26 with clear lymph nodes. I have met with a medical oncologist and radiation oncologist recently. I'm looking to start chemo after the holidays. This position feels awkward for me as I was on the other side as a caregiver 20 years ago for my husband diagnosed with brain cancer. I'm having a difficult time being positive and unlike my husband, I really don't have much support. I feel like I need help but have trouble asking. Not sure where to start for support.

Cioek,  There are many online support groups:  TNBC Foundation, Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC), Breastcancer.org, to name a few.  Also check your local community for Cancer Support Community locations (cancersupportcommunity.org).  Your local cancer center may have programs too.
