I'm sure alot of you are aware of the upcoming program to be aired on all three major networks on September 5, 8:00 P.M. ET called Stand Up To Cancer
but I wanted to share this link for those who were not aware.

Pam, I might be mistaken but I think the date for the program is Sept. 5th. Wouldn't it have been great if FOX and CNN would join in on this?!! Carol |

If I'm not mistaken, all three anchors will be on Larry King at 9 tomorrow night at 9 eastern (CNN) to talk about it.

 Thanks Pam, for bringing the Stand Up 2 Cancer television program to our attention. I did watch the CNN Larry King show last night. I'm wondering about CNN's data at the bottom of the T.V. screen where they attribute one third of cancer to smoking and one third to obesity, diet, and lack of exercise. Is this correct? Overall, I thought that age is the number one predictor.

I think they're probably right, because age is a predictor, but not a cause. IOW, a young smoker isn't going to get lung cancer, an older one is.
But, even though I'm obese and maybe rationalizing, I think obesity is a greater cause in hormone positive cancer, sincc body fat produces estrogen. At least that's what my gyn told me. Now, the arthritis was probably mostly preventable if I weighed what I did thirty years ago.

Carol I really don't know about all cancer and very little about our triple neg so not educated on the numbers CNN gave but they didn't mention the other third? Genetics, so many things.

I assume they meant the remaining third was the sum of other causes and unknown.
I was really angry that Larry wanted to spend all the time talking about politics and the Olympics, rather than cancer. Katie looked pissed.

Is that right Brenda? I missed the show, what a shame, that's disgusting actually. Sounds like letters should be sent to the Larry King show and good for Katie for showing her displeasure!
