Hello everyone-

My dear sweet friend, Hortense McCoy succumbed to her liver cancer last night.  She was 42 years old with a 13 year old son, she was raising alone.  I ask for your prayers for son and her family/friends as we know she is in a better place and no longer in pain.  She was one of the most beautiful ladies I have ever known both inside and out.  A great woman of faith and she will be sorely missed.

Also, my mother has COPD/Emphysema and she was taken via EMS last night to the hospital with pneumonia and TB!!  I am so scared for her and of course scared of the exposure to TB for my children and myself (especially since my body is so run down, etc).

Love you all,

Keri

Keri,

So sorry to hear of the passing of your friend Hortense.  May her son have the support of family and friends to get him through this loss.

I hope your mother can fight this new illness.  My father also had COPD/Emphysema and Pulmonary Fibrosis.  May the antibiotics work quickly.  I pray that you and your children don't catch TB.  Will they be testing you for TB?

Donna

Hi Keri,

I've been mostly a "lurker" on this site since being diagnosed last year, but I just wanted to send my sympathy to you regarding your friend who passed from liver cancer.  I too have a friend who is 41 and in hospice with liver cancer.  She and I were both diagnosed with cancer at the same time. We were able to help each other through the ordeal of going through treatment though she is in Ohio and I am in Illinois.  They don't expect her to live through the week.  I am so sorry anybody has to suffer with any type of cancer or any other prolonged illness.

I hope for the best for you, your mother and children with the TB scare and your mother's illness.

Christina

Hello Keri,
So sorry to hear about the death of Hortense. May her son be comforted by family and friends. I know it will be hard for him..

I pray God's blessings upon all who suffer from this devestating disease 'cancer'. I also pray for all who are left to carry on with life after the death of people like Hortense.

God Bless,
Lillie

Thanks, Donna, yes we will get tested.  How long has your father had it?  Is he on oxygen yet?  Hope you are doing well.

Keri,

My father passed 8 years ago from it.  He actually had emphysema for 24 years before my mother could get him to see a specialist.  He smoked all during that time.  When he finally went to a pulmonary specialist and was placed immediately on oxygen, he lived another 4 years.  He finally quit smoking!  The pulmonary fibrosis diagnosis usually has a short life span, but he outlived the doctor's prognosis.  He was just a very stubborn man and was going to show them all.

I hope you and your kids test negative for TB and your mother's condition improves.  The oxygen definitely helps with the breathing.

Hugs,

Donna

Oh, I am sorry Donna.  My mom is way way stubborn too!  She actually only went on oxygen a few months ago, she was fighting it tooth and nail.  Thank you for your prayers and sharing with me about your father.

Keri,

I think the stubbornness will help your mother too!  She sounds like a fighter.
