Hi.  Just wanted to report on my second chemo.  I had my second chemo yesterday, April 9th, and the good news was the Dr was happy that my tumor had shrunk 50% in the first three weeks.  So, that was a good feeling.  Also, they were able to access my port this time, so that made me happy.
The bad part was that my blood pressure was a higher than normal, most likely from the Avastin, so they put me on a diuretic and want me to have it checked next week.
My hair was falling out terribly, so I broke down and had it shaved and its not as bad as I thought it would be.  I thought I would cry terribly, but I didn't.  It actually felt a lot better as I hated seeing my hair fall out everytime I touched it.  I am going to the Look Good Feel Better program for beauty tips tommorrow, so that should be fun.
Anyway, just an update on me.  Take care everybody and enjoy your Easter weekend.

amylynn, I am so happy to hear you are doing well. I felt good shaving my head, I was getting a little depressed with fallling out everytime I touched it. Question: What is avastin? I am also having chemo before surgery and am brca1 positive. I am 31. How did you like the Look good feel better program. I have not been . Take care.

Mabel,

Here are a few links about Avastin, and our own Kirby  wrote a really good clip for our chemo tips about the Look Good Feel Beter program. Jave you gotten all the resources from the site? I am sure that I sent you a private message with my email address. The chemo tips are on the second page of the TNBC News, Resources & Tips Forum.

Dear Amy,

It`s so wonderful that you have PROOF that your chemo is working!! Clap

I know losing your hair was difficult. I had long hair my whole life and it was kind of like my physical trademark if you know what I mean. So losing it was really hard. But like you, when my friend came over to shave it, it was a relief not to have it falling out in clumps everywhere and I didn`t cry. I think we women look pretty darn GORGEOUS bald! Star

I hope you have a lovely Easter and keep us updated.

Amy this is such good news that the chemo is working so well for you!

Clap I am soooooo happy for you!!!

You are stronger then me lady I tell you!!! When I had my sister in law shave my head we were out on my deck and there were tears flowing down the side of my face the entire time... God Bless her for being there for me!

I do have to say when it was gone I felt some power about being the one to have it cut off instead of just waiting for it to fall out!

Enjoy your weekend and Happy Easter!

Hugs,
Beth Anne

Yeah, I worrieed about what my head would look like and I had my hairdresser turn me away from the mirrors and put my scarf on and told her I would deal with it when I got home.   It turns out I look just like my brother thats in the Army LOL!  Anyway, the Look Good Feel Better program was nice.  They gave a lot of nice makeup to us and also gave us a few turbans and scarves.  I have an appointment for a wig fitting this weekend, so we will see what I can come up with.

Its Monday and I am at work, but feeling tired today, so I can't wait until this day is over.  Take care everyone!
